‘Indian Matchmaking’ on Netflix: How to Follow the Season 2 Cast on Instagram

Indian Matchmaking is back on Netflix with Season 2. This series is unlike any other dating show on Netflix (and wow, are there a lot of dating shows on Netflix). The show is deeply rooted in tradition, and it shows how that matchmaking tradition thrives in a modern setting. Why trust an app to match you up with a partner when you can have Sima help you out?

But Indian Matchmaking is different in format, too. Unlike the other shows, with their increasingly complex rules and high stakes decisions, Indian Matchmaking follows real people as they look for love at their own pace. It’s way more of a documentary than a dating show — and that’s what makes it such a highly addictive and fun watch.

Just like Season 1, Season 2 introduces us a bunch of new faves (and even brings back a few from the last time around). If you want to keep the matchmaking magic going even after you’ve turned off Netflix, you can follow the cast on Instagram. That’s also a nice way to see if the cast has made any progress in their love lives, too. So what are you waiting for? Here’s everything you need to know about the cast of Indian Matchmaking Season 2.

Sima Taparia

You can’t have Indian Matchmaking without matchmaker extraordinaire Sima Taparia, or Sima Aunty as she’s affectionately called by her clients. Sima’s hard at work trying to fix up a new batch of singles, and she has a few holdovers from Season 1 to check in on as well. One thing’s for sure: Sima never has a dull day.

Returning for Season 2

Three cast members from Season 1 return for extended, multi-episode looks at where they are now. The trio — Aparna Shewakramani, Pradhyuman Maloo, and Nadia Jagessar — are all at very different stages in their love lives. They’re also just at different places in their lives since we last saw them when Season 1 aired in 2020. If you want to keep the updates coming, you can follow them on Instagram.

Akshay

First Appearance: Episode 1

The first new client we meet in Season 2 is Akshay Dhumal, the self-proclaimed most eligible bachelor in the world. Akshay works in the family business, which manufactures equipment for chicken farms. His biggest hurdle is his location, as he lives three hours outside of Mumbai and all the single women. He’s looking for a woman with a good education, strong work ethic, and — of course — she has to like chickens.

Viral

First Appearance: Episode 2

Viral Joshi is a fiercely independent, career-driven woman who is proud that she’s not a damsel in distress like a lot of her married friends. Her motto: be a boss, date a boss, build an empire. She’s looking for a man who is debt-free, doesn’t smoke or drink or party, is self-made, and who can “talk science-y.” She’s got a long list.

Arshneel

First Appearance: Episode 4

Arshneel Kochar is a cardiologist living in Cleveland, Ohio. Like Akshay, Arshneel feels that where he lives limits his dating opportunities. He’s prioritized having a career over relationships, and he’s hoping to change that now by finding the right woman. If she wants kids and a dog, that’s a plus.

Shital

First Appearance: Episode 5

Shital Patel has sought Sima’s help because she feels that she’s been too picky in the past, and that her pickiness may have cost her true love. At 38, she’s concerned that she’s running out of time to start a family. She hopes to start a family with a guy who wants kids, is funny and smart, has a man bun, and likes adventures.

Vinesh

First Appearance: Episode 7

Vinesh Vasnani is a 34-year-old investment banker who lives in Miami with his dog Baags. He’s into nutrition and would love to find a woman that is as well. On top of that, he wants someone who is easygoing but ambitious — and she has to love Baags.

Priya

First Appearance: Episode 8

Just like at the very end of Season 1, the last few minutes of Season 2 introduces us to a new single named Priya Ashra. She’s based in London and is looking for a guy who, and she can’t stress this enough, does not own a single dragon shirt.

Are any of the couples still together?

Forget Instagram handles — this is what you’re really interested in! SPOILERS ahead for Season 2 of Indian Matchmaking.

First thing’s first: we won’t have any real updates from the cast until after the season has been out for a second. That’s because cast members of Netflix’s reality shows can’t post pertinent updates on their Instagrams because, well, their lives are spoilers for a Netflix show. So follow all the above Instagrams, wait a sec, and wait to see what updates come through.

Meanwhile, we do know where we leave the cast when Season 2 ends. Akshay found out from a face reader that his path to marriage was obstructed by a lot of bad energy he’d accrued in his hometown from a broken engagement. In order to get past this, Akshay saw a priest who performed a ceremony to help Akshay move on.

Viral ended up with an optometrist named Aashay Shah, and she liked him a lot. It’s unclear if they’re still together, but they do follow each other on Instagram.

Arshneel went on a couple of successful dates with a dentist named Rinkle Goyal, including a trip to an ice skating rink that gave Arshneel a reason to hold her hand. Whether or not they kept dating remains to be seen as both their Instagrams are private.

Shital found someone without the help of Sima — a doctor named Niraj Mehta. The two sounded very serious about their relationship and future together — and we know that they’re at least still in each other’s lives.

Vinesh went on two dates, neither of which resulted in a match, and Priya didn’t even get a scene with Sima. Fingers crossed they both find love in their own time and on their own terms.

As for the OG three, Aparna went on a few dates with Daman and Nadia fell for a guy named Vishal, but neither led to love. Pradhyuman, on the other hand, married Ashima in a big ceremony… and they even got to be the married couple introducing the season finale.
