‘A League of Their Own’ Fans Review-Bombed the Review-Bombers With Positive Reviews: “Not Today, Satan”

Just days after haters review-bombed Prime Video’s A League of Their Own series, fans of the show have banded together to sink the negative reviews with their own positive reviews. Because of this, the show now has 4.4 out of 5 stars in Prime Video’s review section and is No. 1 in the U.S.

The eight-episode series, which delves further into the experiences of LGBTQ+ women and POC during the creation of the American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) in the 1940s, was bashed by reviewers for its “woke” messaging, with one saying it’s “historically inaccurate and focused more on racism and homosexuality than the story of a women’s baseball team.”

Abbi Jacobson, star and creator of the show, responded to critics, adding that the “anger (aka fear) has only made me more sure about why this reimagining needed to be made. Why representation matters so much.”

Since then, fans have taken to outnumbering the trolls with their own reviews. There are currently 3,420 five-star reviews on the streaming platform compared to the 553 one-star reviews, 87 two-star reviews, 38 three-star reviews, and 126 four-star reviews that existed previously.

“Don’t listen to the negative reviews,” one fan wrote. “Negatives speak louder [than] the positives but this show is 100 percent worth the watch. Great romances and beautiful friendships.”

Another said, “Loved it!! Cant wait for season 2!! More accurate picture of history.”

“For all of you who didn’t see the value of this film and were too overwhelmed by the fact that you had to view people of differing races, genders, and sexualities as actual human beings, do better and grow up,” someone else advised, while a fourth fan said, “Pay no mind to the one-star crowd here who seek to tank an amazing series just because they don’t agree with some of the subjects the show addresses.”

Another viewer took to Twitter to praise the fanbase for sticking up for the show, writing, “speaking of the best show, I love that everyone said NOT TODAY, SATAN to review bombers (a few days ago there were under 100 reviews and most were 1 star bigot rants).”
