‘She-Hulk’ Includes a Major Wolverine Easter Egg

Is a Disney+ Marvel Studios series really a Disney+ Marvel Studios series if it doesn’t include at least one Easter egg that gets us one step closer to the X-Men making their big MCU debut? First there was Evan Peters as Quicksilver on WandaVision, then Falcon and Winter Soldier introduced Madripoor, and we just got a big ol’ X-Men bombshell on Ms. Marvel. Now She-Hulk: Attorney at Law outdoes all of them by just straight-up introducing f’ing Wolverine into the MCU… okay, sorta. SPOILERS ahead.

Does She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Episode 2 really introduce Wolverine?

After Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) gets fired from her job, she does what we’d all do in that situation: dejectedly wander around the internet, looking for a gig, any gig. Jen lands on a listicle titled “10 Offbeat Jobs For a Fresh Start” and right there in the sidebar underneath “related articles” is the most consequential headline we’ve ever seen in the MCU:

Man fights with metal claws in bar brawl.”

Metal claws? Bar brawl?! Oh, you mean this man?

The only way that headline could be more Wolverine-y is if they specified that the bar was in Ottawa and that the man was a dead ringer for Jean Valjean. That’s a joke, BTW, because it’s almost certain that Wolverine will be played by someone who doesn’t look like Jan Valjean when he debuts in the MCU; maybe he’ll look like a grown up Troy Bolton.

If the headline was just “man fights with metal claws in embassy / luxury hotel / casino / museum,” it could be anyone with a Black Panther suit. If it was “man fights in bar brawl,” it could be… well, literally any male Marvel hero. They aren’t exactly the best customers, what with people always trying to kill them. But put those two specifics together — metal claws and bar brawl — and you have the most blatant sign yet that the mutants are indeed coming.

Also of note? the sidebar finally acknowledges the events of Eternals, which ended with an enormous statue sticking out of the ocean (and maybe destroying the Earth’s core? Unclear):

So when will Wolverine and the X-Men make their Marvel Studios debut?

All these Easter eggs are cute, but they run the risk of getting old and rotten. We want Kevin Feige to crack these eggs and make us an X-omelet! While there are no firm plans to re-introduce the X-Men into the MCU just yet, Marvel Studios has a whole lot of movie dates without a movie attached to them. The earliest TBA Marvel movie drops on February 16, 2024, followed by two more mystery movies in 2025, and then four more in 2026. So while the mutants are likely to pop up somewhere in there, it is possible that we could be dealing with more and more hints and teases for at least the next year and a half. Marvel better make it worth the wait!

New episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premiere on Disney+ on Thursdays.
