Johnny Depp To Make Surprise Appearance As “Moon Person” At MTV VMAs

It has been quite the year for Johnny Depp as the actor underwent a high-profile public civil trial against Amber Heard for defamation, which he won. Heard also won her countersuit.

The actor, who is also a musician, has since been focusing on his guitar, performing alongside artist Jeff Beck on several occasions in England.

Now, Depp will be making a surprise comeback appearance at MTV‘s Video Music Awards as a moon person. Previously rumored by TMZ and later confirmed by sources close to the New York Post, the gig will take place at some point during the awards presentation on August 28.

Production sources say Depp is “really excited” to appear at the VMAs and is “ready for his comeback.”

Depp has won 5 MTV Movie Awards over the years, including Best Male Performance, Best Villain, Global Superstar and the Generation Award in 2012.

He recently announced his return to film, which is likely the reason for this publicity stunt. Based on reactions to his trial win, he is likely to receive massive applause at the VMAs.

The event, hosted by LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow, will take place on Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
