Sam Levinson Who? Barbie Ferreira Sets Up First Post-‘Euphoria’ Project

Barbie Ferreira isn’t going away just yet. The actress, who announced just last week that she wouldn’t be returning for Euphoria Season 3, has reportedly been cast in the new Prime Video psychological thriller, House of Spoils.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie features West Side Story breakout actress Ariana DeBose as an ambitious chef who opens her first farm-to-table restaurant on a remote estate. There, she battles the chaos that comes with owning a restaurant, plus the spirit of the estate’s previous owner. Ferreira will play DeBose’s sous chef, though we have yet to find out exactly how she will be incorporated (incorporeal-ated?) into the plot.

Brought on by Prime Video and Blumhouse Television and directed by both Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy, the plotline describes House of Spoils as “a tense, psychological, and sensuous thriller that will leave hearts pounding and mouths watering,” per Variety.

Ever since appearing in the first two seasons of HBO’s gritty drama Euphoria as Kat Hernandez, a main character who quickly became an inspiration for body positivity, Ferreira has been testing the waters as a movie star. Back in 2020, she starred in HBO Max’s Unpregnantabout two friends who go on an abortion road trip to another state. She also made an appearance in Jordan Peele’s latest horror, Nope.

Ferreira did not give a reason as to why she left the second-most watched HBO show, though rumors of a fallout between her and creator Sam Levinson have led people to attribute her departure to their allegedly hostile relationship. But who knows? Maybe she just wanted to move on to the world of film.

While there has yet to be a premiere date for House of Spoils, production is set to begin this fall.
