Joy Behar Jokes That “Sex Trumps Trump” When Dating Someone With Different Politics on ‘The View’

Would Joy Behar hook up with a Trumper? Maybe if he was hot. Things took a turn during today’s conversation on The View about how to handle family members with different political views, leading Behar to tell us what should take priority if a good-looking romantic interest was a Trump supporter.

The discussion came as a follow-up to Jennifer Lawrence’s Vogue interview, in which she said, “You live in the United States of America. You have to be political. It’s too dire. Politics are killing people.” The actress also detailed how her father has different political beliefs than her, sparking a conversation during today’s Hot Topics about how the co-hosts handle those types of situations.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who has been open about her estrangement from her father ever since speaking out against former President Donald Trump, immediately jumped in saying, “With family, it’s a little more personal.”

The former White House director of strategic communications added, “That was hard for me because I was the first Trump official to speak out after Jan. 6 and to say the election wasn’t stolen. So I feel that they are choosing to believe the former president who they don’t even know personally over their child, their daughter, who they’ve known their whole life.”

After Griffin told the panel that having a difference of opinion “should be normal,” co-host Sunny Hostin wondered what happens when it comes to love and dating, explaining that she has a friend who recently started dating a “great guy,” but low and behold, they found out he was a “Trumper.”

“And now he’s dead to Sunny,” Sara Haines quipped, while Hostin added, “She says they don’t talk politics.”

Haines went on to detail her difference in politics with her conservative family, who she clarified are not “Trumpers.”

“It is not my job to find everyone in this world to agree with me, to like me, to believe me because I might be wrong,” she said before Hostin chimed in asking, “What happens when you find a guy who’s real sexy and real cute … do you talk about it?”

Whoopi Goldberg rushed in pointing out, “Well she’s married so that’s probably not going to happen for a while.”

Behar, on the other hand, had a more blunt answer, joking that, “In that case, sex trumps Trump.” However, she was quick to add that “it won’t last.”
