Even though it technically isn’t the autumn season yet, we’re already fall-ing for all of the top-notch new titles streaming on all of your favorite platforms, largely thanks to the amazing actresses starring in them. Today is Woman Crush Wednesday, which means that we get the pleasure of celebrating one of those laudable ladies by shouting out her upcoming work in addition to recognizing some of her greatest hits from the past several years. This week, we’re talking about a wonderful woman who kills it both on and off camera as an actress, comedian, writer, and excellent Tweeter. So without further ado, everybody give it up for your WCW, the fantastic Ana Fabrega!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Ana Fabrega

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Fabrega reprises her role as Tati in the second season of HBO Original title Los Espookys, which premieres on the platform this Friday, September 16. After three years, the wait for more of this Spanish and English-language comedy series is finally over! Season 2 continues to follow an eccentric friend group that attempts to turn their mutual love of all things horror into a legitimate business venture. Over the course of six brand new episodes, group leader and gore enthusiast Renaldo (Bernardo Velasco) is haunted by the ghost of a murdered beauty pageant queen while the rest of the crew (Fabrega, Julio Torres, and Cassandra Ciangherotti) all deal with their own challenges and pursuits.

Not only does Fabrega star in the series, but she also created it with her co-stars Torres and Fred Armisen, and co-wrote every episode to-date with Torres. Be sure to show Fabrega and her castmates the recognition they deserve by checking out all their hard work in Los Espookys: Season 2 as soon as it drops this week, only on HBO.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Fabrega got her start in stand-up comedy and making her own videos on social media before having her professional onscreen debut as Production Assistant in 2014 comedic TV movie Truth or Myth with Smith. One year later, she landed her first television acting gig in an episode of Comedy Central’s Alternatino and from there was on a roll, picking up work over the next several years in other shows like Boy BandInvented TodayThe Jim Gaffigan ShowLittle Banks on Wall StreetPortlandiaSasheer Zamata Party TimeLet Me Die a NunThe Special Without Brett DavisThe Chris Gethard ShowHigh Maintenance, and At Home with Amy Sedaris. Most recently, Fabrega starred as Bit alongside Gary Richardson’s James in 2021 comedy series The Dream, and also played Vanessa in 2022 HBO Max Original romantic-comedy drama film Father of the Bride. In addition to her great work in front of the camera, she has also made some comedy magic behind it as a writer for multiple episodes of both The Chris Gethard Show and The Special Without Brett Davis. Looking back at this impressive body of work, it’s clear that Fabrega is a hard working and multi-talented woman who continues to kill it more and more with each year, and we can’t wait to see what else she creates and is a part of in the future!

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Luckily, you won’t have to wait too much longer to see more from Fabrega, as the comedian already has a short comedy film in the works and set for a 2023 release. She’ll play Dr. Ana Fabrega in the aforementioned film, entitled Gold and Mud, which also features Jo Firestone, Ikechukwu Ufomadu, Tom Schiller, River L. Ramirez, and Brett Davis.
