Nikki Haley Tears Into “Racist” Sunny Hostin For Whitewashing Accusations on ‘The View’: “Last I Checked Sunny Isn’t Your Birth Name”

Nikki Haley has entered the chat following Sunny Hostin’s comments on Tuesday’s (Sept. 20) episode of The Viewwhere she criticized the Republican politician for not using her full, Indian name.

The conversation came up when co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said she would like to see Haley, who is the former governor of South Carolina, run for president, to which Hostin condescendingly asked what her full name is, slamming her as a “chameleon.”

While Griffin confirmed that Haley, whose full first name is Nimrata, had been going by her middle name, Nikki, since she was a child, Hostin fired back, saying, “There’s some of us that can be chameleons and decide not to embrace our ethnicity so we can pass.”

In a tweet posted shortly after the episode aired, Haley slammed Hostin as “racist” and set the record straight about the origin of her name — a little over one year since telling followers that Nikki is a Punjabi word that means “little one.” Guess Sunny must have missed that memo.

“Thanks for your concern @Sunny. It’s racist of you to judge my name,” she began. “Nikki is an Indian name and is on my birth certificate — and I’m proud of that.”

Haley continued, “What’s sad is the left’s hypocrisy towards conservative minorities. By the way, last I checked Sunny isn’t your birth name…”

However, the politician wasn’t the first to point that out. During the debate, Sara Haines jumped in to remind Hostin that she also doesn’t go by her full first name — Asunción — to which Hostin said, “That’s because most Americans can’t pronounce Asunción because of the under-education in our country.”

We’ll just have to wait and see if Hostin has a response to the response when The View airs today at 11/10c on ABC.
