Where Was ‘Halloween Ends’ Filmed? Discover the Filming Locations For Haddonfield

It’s time for audiences to once again return to Haddonfield with the arrival of Halloween Ends, which is now streaming on Peacock Premium and playing in theaters.

Halloween Ends is the 13th overall film in the Halloween franchise, and the third film in the recent “H40” reboot trilogy, which started with the return of serial killer Michael Myers in 2018’s Halloween. It’s also, supposedly, the final film of this rebooted franchise. Once you watch the film, you’ll see that the Halloween Ends ending leaves little room for continuation with the characters of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode.

That’s great news for the residents of Haddonfield, Illinois, who have really caught a tough break for the last 40 or so years. But sharp-eyed viewers of the movie may notice that the town of Haddonfield looks a little different this time around. Though it was initially supposed to be filmed in the same location as Halloween Kills and the 2018 Halloween, production delays had other plans in mind.

Read on to learn about the Halloween Ends filming locations.

Where was Halloween Ends filmed?

Haddonfield may be in the Midwest, but Halloween Ends was mainly filmed in Savannah, Georgia, with some additional filming done in Sylvania, Georgia. It was a bit of a departure from the filming location for the previous film, Halloween Kills, which was shot in Wilmington, North Carolina. Halloween Ends originally planned to shoot in Wilmington as well, but production plans had to be changed due to delays related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But the team made it work, and did their best to keep the look of Haddonfield consistent. In an interview for the Halloween Ends press notes, director David Gordon Green said, “John Carpenter used Pasadena to pose for Illinois in 1978’s Halloween,” Green said. “We have shot in South Carolina, then Wilmington, North Carolina, now Savannah, Georgia, and we ended in Sylvania, Georgia. We’ve been a bit all over the place, but we have tried to keep some consistency to character and backdrop.”

The house and town scenes were shot in and around Savannah, while the scenes featuring the underpass and drainpipe that served as Michael Myers’ hideout were filmed in the small town of Sylvania, Georgia. In the same press notes interview, Green said, “We had to come out to Sylvania for the specific underpass. I needed a big bridge and an area to build an underground dwelling for some sequences. There wasn’t anything in Savannah that I responded to, so when we came an hour and a half outside of town, the location spoke to me. The community was open to shutting down this bridge and letting us spend a few nights.”

So there you have it! If you’re a Halloween die-hard, you have a new destination to add to your Halloween movie filming locations tour. Don’t forget to visit the drainpipe where Michael Myers murdered a police officer!
