Jada Pinkett Smith Admits To “Crossing the Line” With Will Smith’s Ex-Wife on ‘Red Table Talk’

Will Smith’s ex-wife Sheree Zampino was a special guest host on yesterday’s (Oct. 19) episode of Red Table Talk. And given their history, Zampino reflected on her “really nice sisterhood” with Jada Pinkett Smith and how it “hasn’t been easy” raising their blended family.

Pinkett Smith, her daughter, Willow Smith, and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris regularly host the talk show. However the 21-year-old singer was absent from the episode due to being on tour with her latest album, Coping Mechanism.

During the episode, Pinkett Smith told Zampino, “It definitely took some forgiveness on your part, because I can remember a few times that I really crossed the line.” She also acknowledged that she was “in the picture too soon.”

Pinkett Smith and Will Smith got together before his divorce from Zampino finalized. The Men in Black actor and Zampino share one son together, Trey, who Pinkett Smith helped raise. The talk show host has two children with Smith, Willow and Jaden Smith, and the trio are know as one of Hollywood’s most popular families.

Pinkett Smith admitted that she and Zampino had to “fake it to make it” in the early days of their relationship, and recalled a particular incident where she overstepped in co-parenting. Pinkett Smith said, “There was one time Trey had a playdate and he had misbehaved, and I was like, ‘We gotta sit down. We gotta talk about Trey. He can’t be behaving this way.'”

Zimpino said that she felt was ambushed when she entered Pinkett Smith’s house and was confused about why they were discussing a situation that happened earlier, at her own house. She recalled thinking, “Why are you talking about what happened at my house?”

The group agreed that Pinkett Smith “didn’t mean any harm” and that they both have “fiery” personalities. The duo was able to come together through sharing a journal, which Zampino says helped “set the tone” as they were able to discuss difficult topics without the added pressure of being face-to-face.

This isn’t the first time Zampino appeared on the Facebook Watch talk show. The entrepreneur was Red Table Talk‘s first guest in May 2018 and she also appeared in a November 2020 episode where she joined Pinkett Smith and her daughter for a holiday cooking segment.

Red Table Talk airs Wednesdays on Facebook Watch.
