New Movies and Shows To Watch: HBO Max’s ‘The White Lotus’ Season 2 + More

Whether you want to watch rich people with hidden demons, or demons who want to live among regular people, there are plenty of new shows and movies premiering this week to look forward to. This week’s new releases include the second season of HBO’s The White Lotus, Netflix’s Wendell & Wild, which reunites comedy duo Key and Peele who play animated demons in this animated film, and a creepy thriller, The Devil’s Hour, on Amazon Prime Video. With so many great new shows and films to choose from, let us here at Decider help you figure out what to watch this weekend and where to stream it.

New Movies and Shows to Stream This Weekend: The White Lotus (Season 2), Wendell & Wild, The Devil’s Hour + More

Last season on HBO’s The White Lotus, writer-director Mike White gave us a cavalcade of privileged people having a terrible time on vacation in Hawaii. Season two promises even more of the same, but this time, the setting is Italy, and it’s a brand new cast of dysfunctional rich people (except for Jennifer Coolidge, who’s back in her Emmy-winning role as Tanya). Over on Netflix, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele have teamed up with Coraline animator Henry Selick for a stop-motion animated comedy Wendell & Wild. Featuring the same ghoulish style that Selick is known for, Key and Peele star as demons who are trying to travel to the land of the living and have to cut a deal to get there. And Amazon Prime Video’s new British limited series The Devil’s Hour is a creepy psychological thriller starring Jessica Raine, Peter Capaldi, Starstruck‘s Nikesh Patel, and Ted Lasso‘s Phil Dunster that arrives just in time for Halloween.

New on HBO Max October 30: The White Lotus (Season 2)

Not since the Overlook Hotel in The Shining has there been a vacation resort that promises its guests so much misery, but that’s what you get when you visit the White Lotus in the HBO series of the same name. While the vacationers of season one encountered a death, a cancer scare, and countless marital problems, season two, which counts Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, and F. Murray Abraham as part of its vast ensemble, takes its travelers to Sicily to work their family dramas out in front of one of the world’s most gorgeous backdrops. Season two premieres on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, October 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with new episodes dropping weekly.

New on Amazon Prime Video October 28: The Devil’s Hour

Amazon Prime Video’s new limited series, The Devil’s Hour, stars Jessica Raine as a woman named Lucy who has woken up every night of her life at 3:33 a.m., during a time known as the devil’s hour, which falls between 3 and 4 a.m. Lucy’s family members are mysterious in their own right: her son is withdrawn and emotionless, her mother speaks to people who aren’t there, there are definitely some mysterious, sinister things afoot in her house. And then there’s a string of murders that Lucy realizes she is connected to. This dark thriller will premiere all six of its episodes on Friday for a festive Halloween binge-watch.

New on Netflix October 28: Wendell & Wild

Animator Henry Selick’s singular style is immediately recognizable, he’s the man responsible for giving stop-motion animation films like The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach their distinctive look. Selick hasn’t made a film since 2009’s Coraline, but he recently teamed up with Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key for Wendell & Wild, a film about two demon brothers who cut a deal with a young teenager named Kat (Lyric Ross) to allow them to enter the Land of the Living. But in exchange, Kat has a list of demands herself that involve some of the brothers’ dark magic.
