Millie Bobby Brown Said Filming ‘Enola Holmes 2’ Gave Her A Nightmare About Returning to ‘Stranger Things’

Millie Bobby Brown has picked up a few new tricks while filming Enola Holmes 2, but she’s concerned they will affect her performance in Stranger Things (so concerned that she had a nightmare).

The sequel to Netflix’s Sherlock Holmes spin-off, Enola Holmes, premiered in select theaters on October 28 (ahead of its streaming debut) to positive reception from critics and audiences. The movie sees the return of the young detective (Brown) as she opens her own agency and struggles to find her footing. When Enola lands her first official case, she finds herself seeking her brother, Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill), for help.

Much like the first movie, Enola Holmes 2 sees Brown breaking the fourth wall and sharing her narration and private thoughts with the audience. While it’s a tactic commonly used in comedies and television sitcoms, it’s not something you’d expect the actor to do in the science-fiction horror series Stranger Things.

Brown commented on the technique during a Q&A at the New York premiere of the movie, per TODAY. They reported that the actor compared filming Enola Holmes 2 to “vlogging on YouTube all day long” and said she now has a “deep-rooted fear” that she will mess up a take on the scary Netflix series.

“While filming, I had a dream that I was on the set of Stranger Things and I couldn’t stop looking at the camera. And now, I have this deep-rooted fear that now I will never stop looking at the camera. So now, I’m so obsessed with it,” said Brown.

The actor also addressed her new skill during an interview with Variety, where she credited Fleabag as an inspiration. Brown expressed, “It’s just like the most perfect way to break the fourth wall with her wit, her humor, her timing,” and pointed out that the two projects share a director: Harry Bradbeer.

“It’s so inspirational to me. I know that Harry has worked so closely with Phoebe [Waller-Bridge] in the past, so it’s been a blessing to have him guide me on such a great course of how to achieve it.”

Enola Holmes 2 releases November 4, 2022 on Netflix.
