Sunny Hostin Says Republicans’ “Sad” Strategy Only Focuses on “Fear-Mongering” and “Anti-Biden” Messaging on ‘The View’

The View has its sights set on the midterms as republicans and democrats duke it out in the remaining days ahead of the election. On today’s episode, the co-hosts focused on speeches from President Joe Biden and former president Barack Obama, both of whom addressed voters and warned of the “chaos” sowed by republican candidates.

After hearing both speeches, Sunny Hostin came after conservatives, calling them out for their reckless campaigns and accusing them of having no other agenda aside from derailing Biden’s presidency.

“It’s become, instead of republicans having a real agenda and having a real message on how they’re gonna help the country, they basically just have an anti-Biden message,” Hostin said. “And the other thing is, they fear-monger. They say it’s inflation, it’s crime and it’s immigration.

“The immigration problem has bee going on for decades. The crime problem has been going on for decades. And as you said,” Hostin continued, turning to Joy Behar, “inflation fluctuates.”

She closed out her argument by reminding her co-hosts of the insurrection, telling them, “So what I think is really sad is, the biggest picture here is that only one party tried to subvert our democracy. Only one party did that. And that’s what we have to keep our eyes on and focus on.”

In response to Hostin’s comments, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said democrats’ talking points are not going to earn them many voters, telling her, “democrats have said things [like] inflation is a global phenomenon. Well, that doesn’t help me put food on my table. Or saying the war in Ukraine is to blame for high gas prices. That doesn’t help me fill my tank.”

Hostin responded, “Should they just lie to people?” and Griffin replied, “No, they’re voting on a referendum on the party in power, which is democrats.”

Whoopi Goldberg then stepped in, telling Griffin, “That can’t be what it is, because the party in power is the only party that’s been doing anything.”

She added, “I think people are much smarter than any of us are giving them credit for. I think people do know what inflation is doing and I think they know why it’s happening. What we’ve been hearing is one party’s message because they don’t actually have another agenda.”
