Stage and screen actor Idina Menzel is joining the likes of Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Billie Eilish, all of whom have Disney+ documentaries charting their success in the music industry.

Best known for originating roles in the hit Broadway musicals Rent and Wicked, Menzel also lent her voice to Disney’s Frozen franchise, where she portrays the notorious ice queen Elsa. Along with belting the Academy Award-winning song “Let It Go” in the first Frozen movie, the signer returned to reprise the character in the short films Frozen Fever and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, as well as the feature-length sequel Frozen II.

Additional on-screen roles include starring in 2007’s Enchanted, in a role that she will reprise in the Disney+ forthcoming sequel Disenchanted, as well as Uncut Gems and the Fox musical comedy Glee. While the singer-actor has an impressive oeuvre, Disney+ states that Idina Menzel: Which Way to the Stage (the title is a nod to Rent) will chart Menzel’s “dream goal” to headline a concert at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, a feat that she accomplished in 2018 alongside Josh Groban.

The streamer teases an “in-depth” and “inspirational” look into Menzel’s life as embarks on a national tour while “she juggles the challenges of being a working mom with a grueling travel schedule.” Curious to learn more about Menzel’s journey? The documentary will be available to stream for free for all Disney+ subscribers. The streamer does not offer a free trial for new subscribers and will release after the platform’s price increase on December 8, 2022 which will see the cheapest non-ad plan increase from $7.99 per month (or $79.99 per year) to $10.99 per month (or $109.99 per year), and will roll out their new ad-supported tier Disney+ Basic which will be $7.99/month.
