Denise Richards and Husband Targeted in “Terrifying” Road Rage Shooting

Denise Richards is unharmed after she and her husband were targeted in a road rage incident Monday (Nov. 14). The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum was fired at by another driver when she and spouse Aaron Phypers were traveling in Los Angeles, TMZ reports.

The incident took place while Richards was en route to Popsicle Studio L.A., with Phypers driving. Richards’ husband had been struggling to find the set, which reportedly irritated another driver behind them as he began shouting at the couple.

TMZ reports that Phypers let the other driver pass in front of his car, but he shot at the couple when he passed, striking the back of the truck on the driver’s side but avoiding Phypers or Richards, who were uninjured. In a photo published by TMZ, a clear bullet hole is visible on the rear of Phypers’ truck, close to his tail light.

Despite the scary incident, Richards resumed work that day, staying on set for 12 hours, per TMZ. The actress is filming Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace, an action film slated for a 2023 release. People reports that a member of the production team contacted authorities about the shooting incident, but did not file a police report.

“The production company made her feel safe but they didn’t file a police report,” a source told the outlet. “They think now that people were after the car itself because it’s worth a lot of money.”

Richards spoke out earlier today about the shooting, responding to a since-deleted Tweet from another user.

“Thank you. I would never wish any harm on anyone,” she wrote. “What I experienced yesterday with my husband, not that you care. Was the most terrifying situation I have ever been in. I’m sorry a shot didn’t graze my neck…asshole.”
