Who is Teddi From ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ and Why Did She Leave Andrew?

Warning: Spoilers for Bachelor in Paradise Season 8, Episode 14 ahead.

Season 8, Episode 14 of Bachelor in Paradise was an emotional roller coaster filled with special guests, a Sadie Hawkins dance, and another ridiculous Genevieve and Aaron fight. Towards the end of the episode, we also watched Andrew Spencer emotionally reveal that he never got over his Paradise ex Teddi Wright, which led to three (!!!) self-eliminations.

Though we’re only 14 episodes in, sometimes it feels like we’ve been watching Season 8 of Bachelor in Paradise for 14 years. Two episodes (aka four hours) of Paradise per week is a lot to take in, so it’s hard to keep track of every single contestant who’s stepped foot on (or off) the beach. After Andrew told his ex, Jessenia, and his date to the Sadie Hawkins dance, Ency, that a piece of his heart was still with his ex Teddi, many fans of the show wondered: Who was Teddi from Bachelor in Paradise? Why did Teddi leave Andrew? And what went down between her, Andrew, and king of the third wheel…Rodney?

We’ve got all the Teddi and Andrew answers you need below.

Who is Teddi from Bachelor in Paradise?

Before joining Season 8 of Paradise, Teddi Wright was a contestant on Clayton Echard’s season of The Bachelor (Season 26). She’s a surgical unit nurse from Highland, California, and if you want to know everything she brought to the table on The Bachelor, here’s her official ABC bio from 2021: “Teddi is a catch. She is beautiful, smart and a total hopeless romantic who is ready to find her soul’s counterpart. Though Teddi grew up in a strict Christian household, she lives by her own rules and has no interest in settling just to settle. Teddi is all about that instant connection and is looking for someone who won’t be intimidated when she asks hard-hitting questions on the first date. While she is all about forming deep connections, Teddi also wants a man who can have fun with her and who won’t be afraid to join her for a late-night skinny dip! Teddi is ready for the real thing and just wants to share her heart with someone who truly deserves it.”

The three fun facts listed on Teddi’s bio are as follows:

  • Teddi could eat pasta for every meal.
  • Growing up, Teddi was terrified of ladybugs.
  • Teddi loves massages.

Like Andrew, Teddi was an original Paradise cast member in Season 8, and the two hit it off right away. Andrew took Teddi on a date in the premiere and they spent the majority of their time together gushing over each other. Teddi accepted a rose from Andrew in Episode 3’s rose ceremony, but later in that same episode, she self-eliminated after Rodney Moore arrived.

Why did Teddi leave Bachelor in Paradise?

It seemed Andrew and Teddi were going strong, but then Rodney arrived to the beach with a date card in hand, Teddi got spooked. Rodney pulled Teddi aside to talk and it was clear the two shared a spark, which made Teddi worried about her connection with Andrew. Andrew was one of the guys she was most excited to meet on the beach, but she also had eyes for Rodney. Being attracted to multiple people simultaneously is a common Paradise curse, but one that Teddi clearly wasn’t ready to embrace, so she bounced.

After realizing the feelings she thought she had for Andrew weren’t strong enough, Teddi marinated in her emotions for a bit before pulling him aside and breaking the news. She told him he was amazing and had all the qualities she was looking for in a partner, but that the emotions she was having weren’t fair to him and she didn’t think Paradise was for her.

Though Teddi said goodbye to Andrew, she decided to pack her bags and peace without saying a word to any of the other contestants, some of whom she was allegedly good friends with! She didn’t say goodbye to Rodney, either. And we know this because he was still walking around with his date card hoping to ask her out. Chaos. Towards the end of the episode, Rodney announced to the group that he wanted to ask Teddi on his date, and they let him know that she left the show. The episode ended with Rodney digesting the news, looking lost, and unsure of who to ask out next. But no one was more distraught than Andrew.

Andrew and Teddi in Bachelor in Paradise Episode 14

Now that we’ve recapped Teddi’s short stay in Paradise, let’s unpack her presence in Episode 14. Since Teddi left Paradise, Andrew tried to find love again with Brittany (who’s now with Tyler), Jessenia (who he broke up with in Episode 13), and Ency (who he started dating in Episode 13 and took as a date to the Sadie Hawkins dance). I bring up this dating history, because it was one of the major points Jessenia kept stressing in her random argument with Andrew in Episode 14, you know, the one that unexpectedly led to three self-eliminations.

As we noted in our Episode 14 recap, the dance was going smoothly until Jessenia pulled Andrew — who was minding his own business — aside to chat. She brought up the fact that Andrew dated Teddi, Brittany, herself, and Ency in Paradise, and accused him of “skirting by.” Andrew argued that he was hopeful for love with each woman he dated, and revealed he was in such a bad place that he almost went home before Ency arrived. Ency interrupted the conversation and asked Andrew to leave with her, but he said he needed to finish the chat with Jessenia. After Jessenia kept pressing him, he finally admitted, “My heart is somewhere else. My heart is still with someone else: Teddi. I have nothing here and I tried…I’m going home. I can’t move on until I get clarity. I don’t have it.”

Andrew then talked to Ency and explained he liked her, but a piece of his heart was still with Teddi, his first Paradise romance, so couldn’t stay on the show. She begged him not to leave, but he hopped in a car after Jessenia did the same. After watching Andrew leave, Ency also said goodbye to Paradise. And that, my friend’s is Teddi’s impact. Will Teddi and Andrew reunite post-Paradise? Will he finally get the clarity he needs to move on? Here’s hoping we find out at the Season 8 reunion.
