‘The View’ Derailed by $95,000 Taylor Swift Tickets: “I’m Surprised We’re On Air Today”

The View hosts are the latest to weigh in on the bad blood brewing between Swifties and Ticketmaster over the last couple of days. While the site was supposed to give access codes to an exclusive presale for Taylor Swift tickets on Tuesday (Nov. 15), many of the codes didn’t work and the site crashed, leaving angry fans without a passes to her highly anticipated Eras Tour.

Alyssa Farah Griffin — the resident Swiftie of The View — was the first to call it like it is, describing the Tickemaster snafu as “a full-blown meltdown” and saying she sympathized with her fellow fans. She told her co-hosts, “If you’re a Swiftie, it’s been a really rough 48 hours,” before adding she even saw “tears” in The View office as”producers were losing it.”

After showing a video of one of their producers attempting (and, sadly, failing) to lock down Swift tickets, Griffin added, “I’m surprised we’re on air today with how dramatic it was!” Yet, somehow they pulled it off.

Sara Haines, who said that Swift while “loves her fans,” she needs to address the huge elephant in the room. Haines urged Swift “to speak up,” noting plenty of people are “really upset right now about what’s going on.” While she doesn’t know if there’s a “quick fix” to the issue, she said she thinks it “would be comforting” for fans to hear from the musician.

When Griffin pointed out that scalpers should not be up-charging for resale tickets, another travesty in the Eras Tour saga that we know all too well, Haines said she saw one ticket going for $35,000. And if you thought that price was beyond your wildest dreams, Griffin did her one better by firing back, “Oh no, there was $95,000 that I saw.”

A shocked Haines caught herself as she almost asked, “Who buys this shit?” but quickly corrected the word to “stuff,” while comparing the price to “a downpayment on something,” to which Joy Behar quipped, “It’s a downpayment on an Hermes bag.”

Griffin, standing up for Swift, kept it positive as she told the panel, “If there’s any voting block that’s brave enough and strong enough to take down Ticketmaster once and for all, it’s the Swifties.”

Or, maybe, they can just call Taylor up.

On the other hand, Ana Navarro, who didn’t seem to know anything — or care to learn — about the situation, was able to shake it off as she joked, “All I know is I’m going to Marc Anthony this weekend and I’m pretty happy about that.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
