‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Confirmed By HBO, Will Be Set In Yet Another Exotic Location

It’s official: The White Lotus is returning for a third season! After breaking records at HBO, Mike White‘s anthology series has been renewed.

The beloved series debuted to critic and fan approval in July 2021, with its first season receiving 20 Emmy Award nominations and taking home ten, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. The second season (dubbed a “resounding triumph” by Decider’s Megan O’Keefe) is on track to follow in its footsteps.

After premiering last month, the latest installment has already raked in over 7.6 million viewers (with its first episode alone), along with hitting an all-time weekly high on the network’s streaming platform, HBO Max.

White said in a statement released with today’s renewal news, “There’s no place I’d rather work than HBO and there’s no people I’d rather partner with than Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner and their incredible team.”

He added, “I feel so lucky to get this opportunity again and am excited to reunite with my amazingly talented collaborators on The White Lotus.”

Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming and Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, said: “Reflecting on The White Lotus’ humble, run-and-gun origin as a contained pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be awestruck by how Mike orchestrated one of the buzziest and most critically acclaimed shows.”

The network teased the upcoming season, which will introduce “new characters and locale,” with a short video, captioned “I can’t wait to welcome you to the next White Lotus property.” The 17-second clip displays the words, “another vacation is in your future,” against the backdrop of ocean waves, which quickly transform into a glass of wine.

While we can only guess what the next season will hold, we do know that Jake Lacy would be game to reprise his infamous character from Season 1, as he recently told Decider’s Nicole Gallucci, “I pray that if there’s a Season 3 and any of us can come back…People are like, ‘Would you want to do a third season?’ And I’m like, ‘I’ll do anything for Mike.'”

If the absurdity of the show’s previous episodes and Jennifer Coolidge’s two-season arc have taught us anything, it’s that nothing is out of the question at a White Lotus resort.

The White Lotus Season 1 is currently streaming on HBO Max, and new episodes of Season 2 air Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.
