‘The View’ Derailed After Joy Behar’s Phone Goes Off: “I Have No Control Over Technology”

The View  experienced a bit of a technical snafu this morning as co-host Joy Behar tried (and failed) to turn off the music erupting from her phone during the first few seconds of today’s episode.

The hilarious disruption came as the co-hosts all settled into their chairs at the start of the show, with Behar filling in as the moderator in Whoopi Goldberg‘s absence. As she welcomed everyone to the show, it was hard to hear her over the music blaring from her phone.

“Oh my God, turn it off,” she said, flustered as she struggled to mute her device, before hitting the screen and commanding, “Stop it.”

A frustrated Behar continued, “And why does Siri talk to me in the middle of nowhere? ‘I don’t understand what you’re saying.’ It’s like, ‘Who’s talking to you? I’m not talking to you!'”

As Sara Haines took the phone away so Behar could ask Ana Navarro about her experience with COVID-19 over the Thanksgiving break, even she couldn’t pause the music, despite trying to unlock the device by holding it up to Behar’s face.

“Hold on, I think I’m gonna talk about COVID after we get the music under control,” Navarro joked.

After what felt like forever, Sunny Hostin finally walked over to the other end of the table to show ’em how it’s done. The host was able to lower the volume on the phone before swiftly walking it off the stage and returning to her seat. She didn’t go to law school for nothing!

Meanwhile, Behar took the opportunity to apologize to the show’s executive producer for her flub. She said, “Brian, I’m sorry. I have no control over technology.”

Going forward, perhaps Behar will start leaving her phone in her dressing room. Then again, we just witnessed the magic of live TV!

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
