Will There Be Another Season of ‘Firefly Lane’ on Netflix?

Netflix dropped Firefly Lane‘s highly-anticipated Season 2, Part 2 this week, and fans who’ve devoured all 16 episodes of the second season are likely wondering if Kate and Tully’s story has officially concluded.

The drama, based on novels by Kristin Hannah, follows Kate Mularkey (Sarah Chalke) and Tully Hart’s (Katherine Heigl) friendship over the course of 30 years. With help from flashbacks starring Ali Skovbye as Young Tully and Roan Curtis as Young Kate, we see the dynamic duo share ups, downs, romances, heartbreaks, trauma, and celebrations throughout the decades. (Spoilers incoming!)

If you breezed through Season 2, Part 2’s seven episodes, you know that the series stayed true to the book’s ending with Kate’s death.

But will Firefly Lane return for Season 3? Will we see more of Tully, Danny, Cloud, Johnny, and Mara’s stories? Read on to see if Season 2 if truly the end for this moving series.

Will There Be Another Season of Firefly Lane on Netflix? Firefly Lane Season 3 Status:

Unfortunately for fans of the tear-jerking series, the Season 2 finale is the end of the road. On October 3, 2022, Netflix announced that the supersized 16-episode Season 2 would be the end of road for Firefly Lane, and nothing has changed since the announcement. The second part of the season was even presented as Firefly Lane Season 2, Part 2: The Final Chapter on the streaming platform to cement the decision.

Hannah’s book series, which inspired the show, only consists of two novels: Firefly Lane and Fly Away. So it makes sense that the Netflix series would only last two seasons, especially since the show stays true to the book — particularly with regard to Kate’s fate. Since the core of Firefly Lane has always been Kate and Tully’s relationship, the show just wouldn’t be the same without one of the Firefly Lane girls. So although we’ll miss these characters, ending the show now feels right.
