WHO’S THAT GAL: Diane Guerrero

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Guerrero continues to star as Jane in the HBO Max Original title Doom Patrol, which premieres its first part of Season 4 on the platform this Thursday, December 8. The superhero series follows the titular Doom Patrol, a squad made up of traumatized and down-on-their-luck superheroes whose superhuman abilities came at the cost of emotional and physical scars and disfigurement. Together, the team of oddballs and outcasts has found purpose in working together to look into some of the world’s weirdest conundrums and phenomena.

See Guerrero, April Bowlby, Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer, Joivan Wade, Michelle Gomez, and Madeline Zima star in this wild ride of a series as soon as the newest episodes drop this week, only on HBO Max.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Guerrero’s professional onscreen career started strong in 2011, when she appeared in an episode of ABC medical crime dramedy series Body of Proof, as well as in short films Ashley/Amber and Detour, and feature film Festival. From there, Guerrero guested in episodes of shows like Taxi Brooklyn and Dora and Friends, as well as earned even more recurring roles in TV series like Superior DonutsElena of AvalorHarvey Girls Forever!, and, notably, Jane the Virgin. She also started accumulating even more work in feature films like 2014 comedy My Man Is a Loser, 2015 drama Peter and John, 2016 musical comedy Happy Yummy Chicken, 2019 animated superhero adventure Justice League vs. the Fatal Five, and 2019 action crime-drama Killerman. Look out for her as Maria Elena Holly in the upcoming musical biopic Clear Lake, a film that chronicles Buddy Holly and a few other musicians during the beginning stage of major musical and political change that was the 1950s.
