Drew Barrymore Twerks Her Way Onto ‘Ziwe’: “I’ve Always Had A Butt With A Mind Of Its Own”

Who knew Drew Barrymore could throw it back like that? The beloved actor and TV host showed off her twerking skills on Ziwe.

Barrymore appeared on this week’s episode, titled “Miss Universe”, of the Showtime talk show. As the host of the eponymous Drew Barrymore Show walked out to the stage to be, nonetheless, grilled by Ziwe Fumudoh, she stopped to do a little dance by her seat.

In what appeared to be a twerk, the actor shook her body as she spun in a circle, prompting Ziwe to cheer, “Okay, twerk, twerk, twerk!” In response, Barrymore joked, “That was sort of, like, the weirdest twerk,” before showing off her real moves. Clearly impressed, Ziwe said, “Wow! Oh my gosh, who knew she was going to throw it back in the first five seconds,” adding that they will be revisiting her showy entrance throughout the episode. But the fun doesn’t end there.

After taking a seat, Barrymore explained, “I’ve always had a butt with a mind of its own,” opening the floodgates to all of Ziwe’s follow-up questions. The talk show host then asked the actor if she would identify with being called “stupid thick.”

Barrymore was clearly out of her league with that question and reacted with visible confusion. “What does stupid-thick mean? Like thick in the head?” she asked, thinking Ziwe was calling her unintelligent. “No, stupid thick is like, “oh my gosh, she’s stupid thick,’” the host explained before naming the animated sex icon Jessica Rabbit as an example.

But Barrymore is still confused as she says, “I don’t know that one.” However, she is familiar with the cartoon. The mother-of-two shared that she watches Who Framed Roger Rabbit with her children and “would like to relate to Jessica Rabbit,” calling the character “hot”.

Ziwe echoed her thoughts saying, “she’s stupid thick,” this time, with the agreement of Barrymore.

The two continue to talk about Barrymore’s “appropriation of average person culture”, her problematic go-to Tina Turner song, and whether the 2009 action-comedy Charlie’s Angels is “pro-cop”. With Barrymore’s unbeatable charm and Ziwe’s quick wit, this episode was one to be remembered.

New episodes of Ziwe streams on Fridays on Showtime.
