Stream It Or Skip It: ‘Paradise PD’ Season 4 on Netflix, Where This Animated Raunchfest Obnoxiously Marches Into Its Final Season

Paradise PD has gone on for four seasons showcasing just how useless and annoying the police force of Paradise can truly be. This animated sitcom is one of the dirtiest adult series you’ll find on Netflix, and now it’s drawing to a close with its final set of episodes. It tried valiantly to compete with more successful adult series like Family Guy, but in the end it never quite got off the ground. It’s cranked up its inappropriate comedy to the next level for its curtain call, and that’s only made for more obnoxious, unfunny storytelling — but fans will likely find more of the same here up their alley.

PARADISE PD: PART 4: STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?

Opening Shot: A large mutant named Dobby (Waco O’Guin), the son of Robby (Waco O’Guin) and Delbert (Roger Black) is rampaging through the city. A pregnant Karen (Grey Griffin) rages to officer and husband Randall (Tom Kenny) that the town is being destroyed again after it was just rebuilt, and all the “police work” he did was sing “Pump Up the Jam” again.

The Gist: The fourth season of Paradise PD takes place after the events of season three really mucked things up for the town of Paradise. Officer Gina (Sarah Chalke) has up and vanished, the entire Paradise PD has been fired, and the city has been absolutely wrecked by the massive mutant Dobby. He’s pretty gross.

Randall’s wife Karen has just had the family’s second child, and they’ve relegated son Kevin (David Herman) to “AFKAK”, “Asshole Formerly Known as Kevin” to name their new son Kevin as well. The new baby is as annoying as humanly possible (and has asserted dominance over Kevin), but that’s the least of the town’s worries.

Kevin and company, while working on rebuilding Paradise once more,face a series of strange happenings while looking for a place to come together: inside the massive body of Dobby. Yes, they plan to live inside this weird mutant’s body. You can guess how well this goes down.

What Shows Will It Remind You Of? If you watch Big Mouth and find its weirdly sexualized portrayal of children funny, you’ll feel at home with Paradise PD, which tries to push the same kinds of boundaries. It’s also reminiscent of Brickleberry, since it’s a bit of a spin-off from that series, or at least part of a parallel universe.

Our Take: If you absolutely need the dirtiest, rudest, most offensive humor possible and shows like South Park aren’t doing it for you anymore, then you might find something to like about the final group of this show’s episodes.

There’s graphic nudity, shocking scenes that you won’t be expecting, and a deluge of tasteless comedy that just doesn’t work. It feels as if it were created specifically to push the envelope, solely for shock value, and as such it never really gets off the ground.

But while there’s plenty here that will shock and awe, none of it feels particularly funny, rewarding, or interesting. The same jokes the writers pulled in the first season are here again in the last. There are so many penis jokes that it’s hard to count (including visual ones). You could guess what’s going to happen before it happens in nearly every scene — and while I personally gravitate toward some very raunchy humor, this is more mean than funny, and in the worst way possible.

Sex and Skin: Where should we begin? A gigantic, swinging penis on the mutant Dobby who’s rampaging through town rams into cars and destroys them in this episode alone. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Parting Shot: The episode concludes with a news anchor discussing how a “senile, geriatric pervert” has lost his mind and opened up a ranch for “giant sperm”. We cut to the man at his ranch, surrounded by said sperm.

Sleeper Star: “Does it look like I give a goddamn?” asks Dusty (Dana Snyder) when Kevin comes to him, concerned about Gina’s whereabouts. The frequent target of Gina’s weird obsessions and harassment, why would he care? Dana Snyder is always perfectly casted in the roles he fills, and Dusty is no exception, especially with the Southern accent required for this dim-witted doofus.

Most Pilot-y Line: “It’s weird,” Kevin ruminates for a second while discussing how the police department has been shut down and Gina has gone missing. “The town seems better off without us.” That’s been something of a recurring theme throughout this series, and an important thought that will resonate throughout the episode.

Our Call: SKIP IT. Paradise PD was, like its predecessor Brickleberry, only good for its occasional surreal, crass laughs. Its season 4 opener was just about as vulgar as they come, but with little payoff. While that kind of comedy can be fantastically written, Paradise PD has never quite reached those levels, and the beginning of the final season proves that it should have been canceled long ago – it’s shocking that it’s lasted this long.
