Jeremy Renner, the Academy Award nominated actor and star of The Avengers, The Hurt Locker and The Mayor of Kingstown, is currently in critical condition in a hospital near Reno, Nevada after suffering an undisclosed injury during what police are describing as a “weather related accident while plowing snow.”
According to a statement provided to Deadline, officers from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office “responded to a traumatic injury in the area of Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada” at 9 A.M. on New Year’s Day. Renner reportedly has a home in the area, which is nearby Lake Tahoe, which had just suffered a serious winter storm. According to some footage acquired by TMZ and some pictures on Renner’s official Instagram account, Renner owns and operates heavy snowplowing machinery, which may have led to the tragic accident. The Daily Mail reports that he owns upwards of “200 vehicles – including fire engines, utility vans, an ambulance that he is converting into a veterinary clinic, and scores of city buses he will transform into mobile homes.”
Police did not provide news outlets with a lot of details about the incident, other than “upon arrival, deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital. Mr. Renner was the only involved party in the incident … and he is in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier.”
Renner is the star of The Mayor of Kingstown on Paramount+, a Taylor Sheridan-created series, which returns for its second season on January 15.
