Drew Barrymore and Ross Mathews Do the ‘Titanic’ Pose After He Accidentally Steals Her Joke on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’

If you need any more proof that Drew Barrymore and Ross Mathews would win daytime TV’s superlative for “Two Peas in a Pod,” let us direct you to today’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Showwhere the actress-turned-talk show host had the most adorable response to Mathews accidentally stealing her joke.

During their Drew’s News segment, the duo talked about Christian Bale’s comments that Leonardo DiCaprio “is the first pick for every leading role in Hollywood and other actors get the part only if Leo passes,” which he originally made to GQ in October. While the Titanic actor turned down the American Psycho role that ultimately went to Bale, Barrymore pointed out some other iconic parts that were initially offered to him.

“I know that Leonardo was definitely supposed to be in Boogie Nights and then he turned it down only to have Mark Wahlberg give one of the most revelatory performances in cinema history,” she said before later pointing out, “Leonardo also was in discussions about Neo for The Matrix. But Keanu Reeves is Neo!”

Mathews then quipped, “And he was originally supposed to be your co-host on Drew’s News but I got the part! You know, he passed and then I got it.”

However, instead of laughing, Barrymore revealed that her co-host had just stolen her joke.

“We actually wrote that like, ‘As Leo passed on co-piloting the news…’ And you… But that’s why we’re meant to be together,” she said as she got up to give Mathews a big hug.

The two then simultaneously took on the famous Titanic pose. You know, where Kate Winslet and DiCaprio are standing on the front of the ship with their arms out? Yeah, that one. I mean, could they be on any more of the same page today?

“I am not kidding— I went straight to the Kate Winslet! Oh my God! I was like, ‘Get behind me Ross, we’re doing Titanic!’” Barrymore exclaimed, while Mathews admitted, “I would not be good in Titanic, I’m way more Julie from The Love Boat — the cruise director — than I am Jack from Titanic.”

Meanwhile, Barrymore replied, “I’ll be Stubing.”
