Ginny & Georgia Season 2 Ending Explained: “I’m No Cinderella” Episode 10 Recap

Season 2, Episode 10, “I’m No Cinderella” opens with Georgia, Ginny, and Austin in the kitchen recovering from their chaotic night with Gil. As they tensely gulp down breakfast, the kids assure Georgia they’re fine, but it’s clear they have a lot on their minds and are still shook up from the fight. At school, Max (Sara Waisglass) rushes to hug Ginny and comfort her over her breakup with Marcus. Ginny tells her it’s been an intense 24 hours (a severe understatement!) and she doesn’t know what she did to bring on the breakup.

Marcus and Ginny largely ignore each other in class as they adapt to their awkward new dynamic. Meanwhile, Ginny’s ex Hunter (Mason Temple) is excited to learn about the breakup. And Max is flirting with Silver after their kiss. At least someone is happy on this show!

When Georgia goes to pick up Austin from school later that day, Gil shows up, apologizes, and asks Austin to talk. Austin shuts him down and leaves, so Gil threatens Georgia and tells her to change Austin’s mind or he’ll make her life hell. A flashback of young Gil and Georgia shows him physically abusing her in their apartment and her pointing a gun at him. (Déjà vu!) He tells her she’s not a murderer and wouldn’t kill Austin’s dad before pushing her against a wall and taking the weapon away. Gil tells young Georgia that she’s not getting rid of him that easily, and she looks terrified.

In present-day, Max and Sophie (Humberly González) have coffee and catch up. Sophie tells Max she misses her and wants to be friends, but Max says she can’t handle that and leaves. As Joe (Raymond Ablack) preps for Small Business Saturday at the Blue Farm he goes off about how Georgia thinks of everything and is clearly salty because of The Sunglasses Incident. Ginny tells Joe that Marcus broke up with her, so he comforts her by saying that while being rejected sucks, it’s not a reflection on them. Ginny asks who rejected Joe and he gets defensive, clearly thinking about Georgia.

Later that night, Ginny and Austin have dinner at Zion’s (Nathan Mitchell) apartment. He notices the mood is off and questions them, so Ginny tells him Marcus broke up with her. After dinner, Ginny is in bed looking at photos of her and Marcus on her phone, while he’s in his bed doing the same. We see his mom comforting him, handing him a pill, and rubbing his back. Then, Georgia lays down near Ginny and starts talking about Lake Powell, which has amazing sunsets and people living on houseboats. Since we saw Georgia call off her wedding plans, it’s easy to assume she’s getting the itch to relocate and is trying to sell Ginny on their new destination. But in Ginny’s mind, the comments are innocent…for now.

Max bursts into Ginny’s room and interrupts the mother/daughter bonding session to urge Ginny to get dressed so they can go out. Ginny says she isn’t feeling up to it and wishes she knew why Marcus broke up with her, so Max, seeing Ginny’s pain, opens up to her about Marcus. “Sometimes he just gets like this. Like, he’s depressed. He kind of has these episodes. It’s happened before. We’re actually really worried about him. My parents are putting him back on his meds,” Max explains. “I swear it has nothing to do with you. Go easy on him, ok?” Georgia tells Ginny that it sounds Marcus needs a friend, not a girlfriend, and Ginny gets up and gets ready for a night out with Max and girls.

When Ginny leaves, Georgia stars packing a suitcase for Austin. Another flashback shows her as a teen, covering bruises on her arms and sneaking into Gil’s work bag. She pulls out a checkbook and makes a check out for $100,000 as part of her big plan.

In present-day, as Ginny and her friends are drinking, talking, and goofing around, she takes a moment to reflect on how nice that she and her family stopped moving around long enough for her to form relationships. Suddenly, Ginny’s face drops and she runs out of the room. In the moment, it’s unclear why. But it’s safe to assume she realized her mom plans to pack up and leave once again. At the friend group’s basement party, Marcus goes looking for Ginny and Hunter asks him why they broke up. Marcus tells Hunter that Ginny is phenomenal and jokingly asks for a punch in the face. The girls (minus Ginny) arrive to the party and Nolan and Abby hook up in the bathroom. Norah walks in and stops them, and Abby tells her that she’s upset she ditched her for Max earlier in the year and that her dad has a girlfriend. The two make up, but then Abby heads to the bathroom, looks at herself in the mirror, and turns on the water, presumably to throw up.

Georgia is at Ellen’s house comforting her and bonding over the challenges of motherhood when Max brings Marcus home drunk. Ellen sends the twins to their rooms, but when Georgia leaves, she finds Marcus outside smoking outside and they have another heart-to-heart. He asks her how Ginny is and says he honored his promise not to hold her back. Georgia tells Marcus she was a little harsh with him and acknowledges that he did a lot for Ginny. She thanks him for making her feel safe and says it was noble of him to let her go if he was only going to hurt her. In that moment, it’s clear she’s also thinking about her decision to leave Paul. As Georgia is heading home, Marcus says he won’t tell anyone that she killed someone, and Georgia realizes Ginny told him her darkest secret.

Back at home, Ginny calls to check on the details for the wedding and learns that her mom called to cancel everything like she thought. When Georgia walks in Ginny interrogates her about the wedding and urges her to stay in town and figure out a way to deal with Gil instead of running. Georgia says she loves Paul, so they have to leave to protect him. She tells Ginny that Paul wouldn’t want to marry her if he knew everything, and Ginny urges her to tell him her secrets so they can stay.

Do Georgia and Paul Get Married?

Georgia takes Ginny’s advice, sits Paul down, and tells him he deserves to know who he’s marrying. “I’m the reason Gil went to jail. I framed him for embezzlement because he was an abusive asshole. I’m the one who opened the credit cards in Ginny and Austin’s names and used them to get by, along with money that I stole and framed him for. So basically I’ve been a hustler and criminal my whole life,” Georgia says. She reveals that she did steal from work, but put all the money back. She tells him that Kenny’s ex wife contested the will and Nick’s boyfriend Jesse is actually a PI that’s trying to take her down. “I’ve been in jail before, I lost custody of Ginny, I was in a motorcycle gang, I shoplifted…Gil’s pissed that I put him in jail and wants your family’s money. He’s been threatening me and wants to blackmail me after we’re married and tell you all the stuff I just told you,” she continues. She admits that Austin found another gun in the house and shot Gil, before saying, “I don’t expect you to marry me.” Paul, who’s understandably overwhelmed, simply says, “I’ve gotta get out of here” and books it.

In another flashback to Georgia’s past, we see her turning up stereo and banging on pots with young Ginny and Austin. Outside her apartment, Gil is banging on door, threatening to kill her, and saying he knows she’s the reason he would be arrested.

In present-day, Ginny takes her mom’s advice and knocks on Marcus’ bedroom door to say she wants to be there for him as a friend and loves him. She comforts him on his bed and he tells her he’s having a really hard time. Next thing we know, it’s morning and Georgia, Ginny, and Austin wake up together in Georgia’s bed. Georgia hasn’t heard from Paul since he left the night before, but he texts and asks her to meet him at the office. “For all I know he’s waiting with cops waiting to arrest me and just doesn’t want to do it in front of you guys,” Georgia says, before deciding to go see him and take responsibility for her past rather than running. She arrives at the office and finds Paul, a cop, and Paul’s attorney. She assumes she’s about to be arrested, but Gil shows up and things take a turn. “Gil, I asked you to come here to tell you that what you are doing has crossed over into harassment. You are a convicted felon, one call from me to your parole officer and you go back to prison,” Paul says. Gil tells him that Georgia isn’t who she says she is and that he’ll fight for custody of Austin, but Paul shuts him down. “From now on, if you want to see my stepson or speak to my wife you do so through me.” When Paul and Georgia are alone he says he’s still very angry with her, but he can’t see himself spending life without her. They kiss and Georgia rushes home to tell Ginny that Paul still wants to marry her.

Ginny scrambles to plan a wedding after Georgia canceled everything, and before the ceremony Nick’s boyfriend comes clean with him. “My name isn’t Jesse, it’s Gabriel,” he says. He explains he’s not a teacher, rather, he’s a private investigator from Houston who came to Wellsbury to look into Georgia. “She’s not who you think she is,” Gabriel says before telling Nick everything.

Why Was Georgia Arrested?

Ginny takes Georgia to Town Hall for the ceremony and Paul and Georgia finally say I do. When it’s time for the reception, Joe and Marcus linger and commiserate in the lobby before hyping each other up to attend. Georgia and Paul have their first dance, which is romantic as hell, but Gabriel and cops interrupt by busting in and arresting Georgia for murder. Georgia has committed her fair share of crimes over the years (some of which Paul still doesn’t even know about), but that night, Gabriel and the cops were able to link her to the murder of Cynthia’s husband, Tom Fuller.

A chaotic version of “Going To The Chapel” plays as Georgia is put into the back of a squad car in front of Paul, her kids, and all their wedding guests. As the car drives away, Austin — who saw Georgia put a pillow over Tom’s face earlier in the season — says, “But I didn’t tell anyone!” and starts running after his mom while Ginny tears up. The final scenes of the season show the cop car driving down the street and Georgia Randolph getting her mug shot taken. Here’s hoping Ginny & Georgia returns for a Season 3 so we can see the chaotic aftermath of that wild cliffhanger.

Season 2 of Ginny & Georgia is now streaming on Netflix.
