Gerard Butler Pulls Scotch Egg From Under Ross Mathews’ Kilt and Eats It on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’: “Very Nice”

Things got even more interesting than usual on today’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show as Drew Barrymore enlisted Plane star Gerard Butler, her Thursday guest, to take part in a wacky guessing game involving an egg and Ross Mathews in a kilt. Confused? We’ll break it down for you.

Mathews, in a nod to Butler’s Scottish heritage, stepped onto the stage donning a full-on kilt outfit, which Butler helpfully explained should be worn with nothing underneath i — or, as Barrymore put it, you’re “free-balling” in a kilt.

The talk show host then introduced the guessing game, which she called “What’s Under Rossy’s Kilt,” where she and Butler had to guess what he was hiding under there in 60 seconds in order for the audience to earn a prize.

Mathews gave the first clue, telling them the item he was hiding is a hit at picnics. Butler’s guesses of “cheese” and “wine” and Barrymore’s guesses of “potato salad” and “ambrosia” were all unfortunately incorrect.

The Drew’s News co-host gave several more hints like, “The biggest one recently set a world record for weighing 8.3 kilos,” and, “One was featured in a memorable scene in the British version of The Office.” He also said, “It’s delicious. It’s wrapped in sausage. It’s breaded. And it’s deep fried.”

Still, neither contestant was able to guess the mystery item in the given time.

When Butler finally realized it was a scotch egg that had been hiding under Mathews’ kilt, Barrymore said, “Is there a scotch egg under this cloche? Because I swear to god, I’ve been sitting here this whole time wondering who farted. And I am not kidding!”

Butler quipped, “No, that was me. I think there’s three scotch eggs under there,” to which Mathews inquired, “Gerard Butler, do you want to reach under my kilt and grab my scotch egg?”

The actor then proceeded to grab the egg from under the kilt and ate it, sending Barrymore and Mathews straight to the floor in hysterics.

“Very nice,” Butler said as he chowed down. “Can I have another one?”
