Sundance Film Festival is back, and in-person for the first time since 2020, the festival will be in person in Park City, Utah, from January 19–29. But just because you can stand in line in the snow outside Eccles Theater doesn’t mean you have to. The 2023 Sundance Film Festival will also be online this year, and while not every film will be available to watch virtually, quite a few of them will be. And starting today, Thursday, anyone can buy individual tickets to the online screenings at Sundance 2023.

Purchasing tickets online is easy: Just make a free account over at festival.sundance.org, browse the Sundance 2023 program, and add films that you find interesting to your “favorites” list. You can then buy tickets to your favorite films under “My Schedule.” Tickets cost $20. (Or, if you have a pass, you can then “reserve” a seat at a film premiere on your schedule if there are still seats available.) Online tickets are limited, and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t delay!

All online screenings of the Sundance 2023 films—the ones that are available online—will be available from January 24 to January 29. That means you won’t get to see the film at the same time it’s premiering in person. But a few days isn’t so long to wait, right?

Not every Sundance 2023 film will be available online—and be sure to check each movie’s description to see if it is listed as “Available online.” Some of the big hitters, including the new Brandon Cronenberg horror, Infinity Pool, will be available for in-person screenings only. But other highly anticipated films, including the film adaptation of Cat Person, will be available online. Decider is all about helping you stream movies at home, so for your convenience, we’ve put together a list of some of the biggest Sundance 2023 movies that are available online. Here are the Sundance 2023 online highlights that you don’t want to miss.

'Sometimes I Think About Dying'

Sometimes I Think About Dying - Still 1
Photo: Dustin Lane

Director: Rachel Lambert
Cast: Daisy Ridley, Dave Merheje, Parvesh Cheena, Marcia DeBonis, Meg Stalter, Brittany O’Grady
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: One of the films opening the 2023 Sundance Film Festival is Sometimes I Think About Dying, which promises to be a moving reflection on suicide ideation. We’ve all seen what Daisy Ridley can do as the best pilot in the galaxy, and we can’t wait to see what she does with a small indie where she stars as Fran, a young woman who falls into a new romance but has to learn how to love herself, first.

'Magazine Dreams'

Magazine Dreams - Still 1

Director: Elijah Bynum
Cast: Jonathan Majors, Haley Bennett, Taylour Paige, Mike O’Hearn, Harrison Page, Harriet Sansom Harris.
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: Jonathan Majors has been a star on the rise ever since his performance in the excellent Sundance film, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, in 2019, so we’re thrilled to see him back at the festival with this new drama in which he stars as an amateur bodybuilder who pushes himself to the brink. And listen, we respect him for his craft… but the toned body doesn’t hurt, either.

'Cat Person'

Director: Susanna Fogel
Cast: Emilia Jones, Nicholas Braun, Geraldine Viswanathan, Hope Davis, Fred Melamed, Isabella Rossellini
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: Unless you were living under a rock, you surely remember the viral 2017 New Yorker article, “Cat Person,” a fictional short story about a bad date that sparked a fierce debate about privilege, gender, and sex. Well, now that headache has its own movie! Michelle Ashford (The Pacific, Masters of Sex) handled the script, going the psychological thriller route. We’re morbidly curious, but Emilia Jones was fantastic in CODA, so we’re willing to give it a chance.

'Fair Play'

Director: Chloe Domont
Cast: Phoebe Dynevor, Alden Ehrenreich, Eddie Marsan
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: The world of hedge funds is brutal and cutthroat, making it the perfect setting for this psychological thriller from debut writer/director Chloe Domont. Alden Ehrenreich (aka Han Solo from Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Phoebe Dynevor (aka Daphne from Bridgerton) play a couple competing for the same promotion at their company, and I, for one, can’t wait to watch them destroy each other psychologically.

'The Starling Girl'

Director: Laurel Parmet
Cast: Eliza Scanlen, Lewis Pullman, Jimmi Simpson, Wrenn Schmidt, Austin Abrams, Jessamine Burgum
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: Sundance tends to have an eye for coming-of-age filmsCODA, Eighth Grade, to name a few—and this one starring Eliza Scanlen as a 17-year-old who struggles with her place within her Christian fundamentalist community sounds promising. Plus, Scanlen shone as Beth in the 2019 Little Women movie, and we’re excited to see her in a starring role.

'Theater Camp'

Theater Camp - Still 1

Director: Molly Gordon, Nick Lieberman
Cast: Molly Gordon, Ben Platt, Noah Galvin, Jimmy Tatro, Patti Harrison, Ayo Edebiri
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: There are plenty of doom and gloom movies at Sundance this year, but this ensemble mockumentary about a theater camp sounds like pure fun—not to mention, a callback to the Christopher Guest mockumentaries we know and love. Molly Gordon and Ben Platt star as counselors of an eccentric theater camp, who are forced to join forces with a crypto bro (Jimmy Tatro) to keep the camp alive. With the supporting cast including breakout stars like Patti Harrison (I Think You Should Leave) and Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), it’s hard to imagine not having a good time with this one.

'Bad Behaviour'

Director: Alice Englert
Cast: Jennifer Connelly, Ben Whishaw, Alice Englert, Ana Scotney, Dasha Nekrasova, Marlon Williams
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: Jennifer Connelly takes on a satirization of a problematic white woman in this dark comedy about a former child actress who attends a bougie, silent retreat in the mountains. Is that perfect casting, or what? Plus, Ben Whishaw stars as the retreat’s out-there guru, so color us intrigued.

'The Amazing Maurice'

Director: Toby Genkel
Cast: Hugh Laurie, Emilia Clarke, Himesh Patel, Gemma Arterton
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: If you’re looking for a Sundance movie you can watch with your kids, look no further than The Amazing Maurice, a new animated film that promises to be fun, clever, and unexpected in the best way. The film, about a street-smart cat who teams up with the rats to con a village, is already in theaters in the U.K., to a positive critical reception, but this is your chance to catch it early (and cheaply!) at home.

'Fancy Dance'

Director: Erica Tremblay
Cast: Lily Gladstone, Isabel Deroy-Olson, Ryan Begay, Shea Whigham, Audrey Wasilewski
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: Lily Gladstone is about to be a star, whenever Martin Scorsese finally releases his upcoming Killers of the Flower Moon film for Apple. So you might as well get ahead of the curve and watch Gladstone in this new drama about a Native American woman raising her niece on the  Seneca-Cayuga Reservation in Oklahoma while searching for her missing sister. We have a feeling you won’t regret it.

'Aliens Abducted My Parents and Now I Feel Kinda Left Out'

Aliens Abducted My Parents and Now I Feel Kinda Left Out - Still 1 - Emma Tremblay, Jacob Buster

Director: Jake Van Wagoner
Cast: Emma Tremblay, Jacob Buster, Will Forte, Elizabeth Mitchell, Kenneth Cummins, Matt Biede
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: Sometimes it comes down to a killer title when selecting films to watch at Sundance, as is the case with this lighthearted family drama for kids, from director Jake Van Wagoner and writer Austin Everett. I mean, it’s really all there in the title, but we’re also excited to see Jacob Tremblay’s older sister star as a girl who befriends an amateur astronaut (Jacob Buster).

'A Little Prayer'

A Little Prayer - Still 1

Director: Angus MacLachlan
Cast: David Strathairn, Jane Levy, Celia Weston, Will Pullen, Anna Camp, Dascha Polanco
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: Powerhouse actor David Strathairn never gives a bad performance, whether he’s playing an admiral in Godzilla or a kindly traveler in Nomadland. So we trust that this father-son family drama, starring Strathairn as the father and Will Pullen as the son, will be a movie worth watching.

'The Stroll'

The Stroll - Still 1

Director: Kristen Lovell, Zackary Drucker Angus MacLachlan
Cast: Lío Mehiel, Cole Doman, MiMi Ryder, Alejandro Goic
Available online: Tuesday, January 24, 10 am ET Monday, January 30, 1:55 am ET
Why we’re hyped: If you love Paris Is Burning, then you need to watch this new documentary that chronicles the history of trans sex workers in New York City’s Meatpacking District, told by the transgender women of color who created its history. As the U.S. government continues to chip away at the rights of trans folks in this country, this documentary feels like a relevant, urgent must-watch.
