‘The View’ Derailed by Audience Member Calling Whoopi Goldberg An “Old Broad”

Careful what you yell out on The View, you might just end up on TV! One particularly outspoken audience member got her five seconds of fame after calling out to Whoopi Goldberg during today’s episode of the show— and, naturally, the longtime moderator gave the best response to being dubbed an “old broad.”

As the cheers from the extremely excited crowd on this morning’s taping died down, voices could be heard calling out to the panel from the viewers seated in the studio. While Goldberg made her best attempt to keep the show going, she couldn’t help but stop her first Hot Topics introduction to clarify what she thought she’d heard from the stands.

“So anybody wondering about the —,” she began, before cutting herself off and turning toward the audience member, who was donning a fur hat. “Did you just call me an old broad?” she asked.

Joy Behar, who clearly didn’t hear the remark, asked, “Did she?” to which a stunned Goldberg replied, “Yes!”

Still slightly confused, Behar clarified, “She said what? You look good for an old broad?” Umm, not quite, Joy. According to Goldberg’s recollection, “She said, ‘You old broad!’ And I was like, ‘Hey!’”

With Sunny Hostin pointing out that “it’s Wednesday,” Goldberg, who had just finished wiping lipstick off her teeth, per the courteous direction of Sara Haines, echoed, “It’s Wednesday. And I am an old broad and happy about it.”

When Hostin asked, “Because you know what they say, Whoopi? What’s the alternative?” the host responded, “Yeah, the alternative is not attractive to any of us. We all want to be old broads and old dudes.”

Ain’t that the truth!
