'Avatar: The Way of Water'

What’s it about? The sequel to 2009’s Avatar once again follows Na’vi Jake Sully, his wife Neytiri, and their family. As a new threat to their family emerges, the Sullys must seek refuge with a new clan in Pandora.

Where to watch: Avatar: The Way of Water is still playing in theaters and not currently available to stream, but once it is, you’ll be able to watch it on Disney+ (starting at $7.99/month). The first Avatar, which was also nominated for best picture, is available to watch now on Disney+.

'The Banshees of Inisherin'

What’s it about? Martin McDonagh’s latest dark comedy follows Pádraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson), two lifelong friends living on the fictional Irish island of Inisherin who find themselves in a standoff after Colm abruptly ends their friendship.

'Elvis'

What’s it about? Michelle Yeoh stars as Evelyn Wang, a laundromat owner who discovers during an IRS audit that the fate of the universe rests in her hands. As a parallel universe version of her husband, Waymond (Ke Huy Quan), takes her through the multiverse, Evelyn is forced to connect with parallel versions of herself to stop a powerful being from destroying the multiverse.

'The Fabelmans'

What’s it about? The Fabelmans is the film that Steven Spielberg’s entire career has led him to. It’s a semi-autobiographical tale that follows Sammy Fabelman, a young, aspiring filmmaker, as he deals with growing up, high school bullies, and family drama. Sammy’s passion for film helps him see and understand the world around him.

Where to stream: Right now, the only way to stream The Fabelmans is to buy it from Amazon Prime Video or Vudu for $19.99. A cheaper rental option is expected to become available on February 14.

'Tár'

'Top Gun: Maverick'

What’s it about? Still a captain after thirty years, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) returns to the Top Gun program in this sequel to the 1986 classic. In the face of a dangerous mission, Maverick is tasked with training 12 of the best fighter pilots in the Navy for combat, including the son of his late wingman, Goose.

'Triangle of Sadness'

What’s it about? Swedish director Ruben Östlund made his English-language feature debut with this satire, which won the Palme d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. 'Women Talking'

What’s it about? Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, and Jessie Buckley lead an ensemble cast in the film, which follows a meeting between eight women in a Mennonite community as they grapple with their futures in the colony; in the face of repeated sexual assaults committed by the colony’s men, the women must decide if they should stay and fight or leave and begin new lives without them.
