Pamela Anderson Slams Sebastian Stan’s Transformation Into Tommy Lee in ‘Pam & Tommy’: “It Looked Like a Halloween Costume”

Pamela Anderson is taking control of the narrative. The actor and model is getting candid about the 2022 Hulu series Pam & Tommy – created without her consent – as she promotes her upcoming Netflix documentary, Pamela, A Love Story. She specifically put Sebastian Stan and Lily James on blast for their transformations.

Anderson has long expressed her distaste for the biographical comedy series, despite the show being posed as a “positive thing” for her. While speaking with Variety, the Baywatch star called the creators of Pam & Tommy “assholes,” and said they owe her a public apology.

The star dug into James’ transformation into herself and Stan’s transformation into her former husband, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee. She said, “It just looked like a Halloween costume to me,” citing the fake tattoos and the prosthetics, which she only saw on billboards because she refused to watch the limited series. Last year, USA Today reported that Stan’s transformation took roughly three hours each day as he had to get around 30 tattoos painted on him. He also dyed his hair black, wore brown contacts and donned a prosthetic penis and pierced nipples. Meanwhile, James took roughly four hours for prosthetics and wigs.

James and Stan respectively portrayed the two eponymous characters in the series, which focuses on the infamous released of Anderson and Lee’s sex tape. Pam & Tommy split focus into two storylines, one taking a sympathetic look at the culprit, Rand Gauthie (Seth Rogan), and the other focusing on Anderson and Lee as they deal with the media backlash from the tape and their conflicting perceptions of it.

During production, James has stated that she reached out to Anderson but never heard back from the former Playboy model. Anderson explained to Variety that she has no ill will toward the actor – she said she has even invited her to the premiere of her Netflix documentary.

“I think it’s hard to play somebody when you don’t know the whole picture. I’ve got nothing against Lily James. I think that she’s a beautiful girl and she was just doing the job. But the idea of the whole thing happening was just really crushing for me,” Anderson explained.

Anderson’s tell-all documentary, Pamela, A Love Story, is dropping later this month on Netflix. Produced by her son, Brandon Thomas Lee, the work is said to be “intimate and humanizing.”

The synopsis teases that it will follow “the trajectory of Pamela Anderson’s life and career from small town girl to international sex symbol, actress, activist and doting mother.”

Watch Pamela, A Love Story, when it premieres Jan. 31 on Netflix.
