Cast of ‘Real Housewives of New York City: Legacy’ Says Bravo Is Low-Balling Them, the Show May Not Go On

Bravo has been trying to pull double duty by updating the long-running show The Real Housewives of New York City with a more modern and diverse cast (the newest season of which includes fashion designer Jenna Lyons) all while keeping past stars of the show on air with a spinoff titled The Real Housewives Of New York City: Legacy.

A recent report from Page Six is hinting that the Legacy cast — which is rumored to include Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Jill Zarin, Dorinda Medley and Kelly Bensimon —  thinks Bravo is not offering them enough money, which has made the network less enthusiastic about the project. (Former RHONY cast member Ramona Singer is also not enthusiastic about the new show, saying last year, “How could it be really good? The people who they’re gonna bring back are people they didn’t want to renew anyway so what are you gonna call it? The Loser Show?”)

While it’s undeniable that the women who starred in early seasons of the show have helped make the Real Housewives franchise a phenomenon, Page Six reports that their exorbitant salary demands are turning Bravo off from working with them again. One source is even quoted as saying, “A few of the women now believe they should make what the cast of Friends made in their heyday.” If you’ll recall, the six cast members on Friends earned $1 million per episode in the show’s final two seasons.

“It’s insulting,” the source added. “These are the women that have made the show a hit in the first place. They don’t deserve to be nickel-and-dimed.” In addition, the cast is reportedly demanding Bravo guarantee each cast member 12 episodes per season. According to the report, Bravo is only willing to guarantee four episodes per cast member. In turn, sources say Bravo may be pulling away from the project altogether.

“The network seems to have just lost interest in pursuing the ‘Legacy’ edition at this point. It seems producers are more focused on the ‘RHONY’ reboot,” one unnamed source told Page Six.

The negotiations are still ongoing, but in the meantime, Season 14 of the newly re-cast version of The Real Housewives of New York City is already in production and will premiere some time in 2023.
