Remy Ma and Tami Roman’s Lifetime Movie Is the ‘Love & Hip Hop’/’Basketball Wives’ Crossover We’ve Always Wanted

Lifetime announced the release of eight new TV movies today, which will be rolling out throughout the spring.

The titles include Black Girl Missing, which will star The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Garcelle Beauvais, and The Hillsdale Adoption Scam, which will star Cosby Show alum Keshia Knight Pulliam. Another title on the schedule which will make longtime reality TV fans excited is Girl In The Closet, which co-stars rapper and Love & Hip Hop New York mainstay Remy Ma, and actress Tami Roman, who rose to fame on MTV’s The Real World: Los Angeles and spent much of the last decade as one of the stars of VH1’s Basketball Wives franchise.

Remy Ma has been a part of the rap collaborative Terror Squad for over 20 years, and she has also put out several solo albums. She has also had a successful reality television career on Love & Hip Hop, but has only recently branched out into acting, appearing on an episode of Queen of the South, and in the upcoming Netflix film The Perfect Find. Girl in the Closet marks her first starring role.

Tami Roman, on the other hand, has been acting for most of her professional life and, in addition to her stints on reality TV, she has appeared on the BET series The Family Business, on Apple TV+’s Truth Be Told, and on the Halle Berry sci-fi series Extant.

Though the two women are closely associated with their VH1 reality shows, the pairing in the Lifetime film will mark the first time they’re working together on a scripted project.

In Girl in the Closet, Roman and Ma play sisters Mia and Patricia, with Mia kidnapping Patricia’s daughter and hiding her away for a decade.

The film will premiere at 8 p.m. ET/PT March 11 on Lifetime.
