The first season of the Orlando Bloom/Cara Delevingne fantasy series premiered all the way back in 2019. Carnival Row is based on a screenplay by Travis Beecham called A Murder on Carnival Row. It’s set in a fantasy world where humans have conquered foreign lands populated by magical creatures, derogatorily called “critches.” Refugee mythical creatures are largely confined to “Carnival Row,” a slum in the opulent Victorian-esque city-state known as The Burgue.

When we last saw our main characters, Philo had revealed his half-fae nature and was thrown in the now locked down ‘Row with his fellow magical beings. Vignette had devoted herself to the freedom-fighting group known as the Black Raven. Oh, and Imogen decided to run off with her wealthy faun lover, Agreus. There was also an incest plot, a bunch of grisly murders, and the revelation that Philo was the trueborn son of the recently deceased Chancellor. Carnival Row, baby!
