Fans Praise ‘Star Trek: Picard’ For Paying Tribute to Late Annie Wersching: “I Ugly Cried”

Just a couple of weeks following Annie Wersching‘s shocking death, Star Trek: Picardone of her final acting credits — remembered the late star at the end of its Season 3 premiere.

At the conclusion of the episode titled “The Next Generation,” which was released on Paramount+ on Wednesday (Feb. 15), the words, “For Annie,” appeared on the screen.

Wersching, who was also known for her roles in Bosch and 24, died last month at the age of 45 after a battle with cancer. While she was first diagnosed with the illness in 2020, she continued to work on shows like The Rookie and Star Trek: Picard, where she starred as the Borg Queen after joining in the show’s second season.

Following the Season 3 premiere, fans took to Twitter to praise the series for its “beautiful” dedication. One wrote, “I knew it was coming and it gutted me just as much as when they did it on #TheLastOfUs and #TheRookie she will be so missed.”

Another added, “I ugly cried 😭,” while a third person said, “I loved seeing that.”

“#StarTrekPicard ….. That was a super nice touch at the end … Annie @Wersching  was amazing! xxxx,” another wrote.

Someone else said, “That was so sweet to see pop up. I was already a mess (shakes fist at Jerry Goldsmith & Stephen Barton), but then they dug the knife in just a li’l deeper… perfect.”

Wersching was also honored in the most recent episode of ABC’s crime drama The Rookie, where she played Rosalind Dyer, a convicted serial killer. After first appearing in the second and third seasons of the show, she returned for a Season 5 episode last October, in which her character was ultimately killed off.

The Feb. 14 episode featured the words, “In loving memory,” written above a photo of the actress. Following the news of her death, the show also tweeted, “Annie’s light both on and off screen will always be remembered & our thoughts are with her loved ones.”
