Despite Guy Fieri dropping by The Drew Barrymore Show this morning, Drew Barrymore and Ross Mathews weren’t exactly transported to Flavortown. Instead, they were left grimacing over the food the master chef fed them during a bizarre taste-testing game.

The contest required both co-hosts to be blindfolded as Fieri handed them different foods. If they guessed each one correctly, the audience would go home with a set of prizes.

Things started out easily enough as both Barrymore and Mathews were able to quickly determine the first snack as almond butter. However, they were thrown for a loop during Round 2 as Fieri joked, “I hope you don’t mind things that are live and raw.”

The Tournament of Champions host kept the bit going as he told them, “It’s gonna be a bit crunchy, and just work right through it, OK?”

While Mathews appeared to be worried over Fieri’s fake clues (and understandably so), he was eventually able to guess the correct answer — a waffle — which he was clearly relieved about as he jumped up and down. Anyways, who would want to eat something live and raw at 9:30 a.m.?

Meanwhile, the best was saved for last. As the camera panned to spoons filled with spray cheese on the table, Fieri warned, “This one is weird.”

Barrymore was immediately taken aback by the flavor, yelling out, “Ew! Oh, god,” to which the chef pointed out, “This is how you know I didn’t pick it!”

The actress-turned-talk show host, who labeled the snack “disgusting,” as well as Mathews, who was also visibly repulsed, continued to scrunch their faces from underneath their blindfolds before the latter finally guessed it right.

“It’s so sad that I know what this is but I really think it’s, like, a cheese spread or something like that,” Mathews said.

Luckily for the audience, they got to go home with all three prizes, which — also fortunately for them — did not include spray cheese.

The Drew Barrymore Show airs on weekdays on CBS. You can check the website for local airtimes.
