7 Shows Like ‘The Company You Keep’

ABC’s new series The Company You Keep is full of everything we love about network dramas: thrills, romance and incredibly attractive people doing normal people jobs. Based off of the South Korean television series My Fellow Citizens, the show tells the story of a con-man and undercover CIA agent who – unaware of each other’s true identities – accidentally fall in love over a couple of steamy hotel nights. Things get complicated, however, when the duo’s professional paths begin to cross, as well.

Starring This is Us‘ Milo Ventimiglia as con-man Charlie and Catherine Haena Kim as agent Emma, the series seems like it could be a hit for thrill-seeking romantics: if Charlie’s burger eating scene didn’t get your heart pounding, you’re probably not human. Like all other primetime dramas, though, the series only airs new episodes once a week, so viewers who want to binge watch the couple causing/preventing mayhem (or eating more fast food) are kinda out of luck.

Just because The Company You Keep only plays once a week, however, doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in other fast-paced, professional career-oriented dramas on the days in between. In fact, we can name at least seven shows with similar tones and excitement that you can stream full seasons of right now. And if you thought those CIA agents were cute? Just wait until you see the hot doctors, teachers and cops we have in store.

So, while you wait for next Sunday to roll around, here are seven shows that will remind you of The Company You Keep.

1

'My Fellow Citizens' (2019)

As previously mentioned, The Company You Keep is based off of the South Korean drama My Fellow Citizens! When it comes to similar series, therefore, you won’t find one more alike. The show centers around a veteran con man who falls in love with a woman at the bar, only to find out on their wedding day that she isn’t exactly who he thought she was.

'Imposters' (2017)

If the cons are what draws you to The Company You Keep, Bravo’s Imposters should be the next show on your binge list. A similarly sexy heist story, the show follows female con artist Maddie as she marries people and runs away with their money. As her victims begin to pile up, however, they eventually find each other and join forces to look for their vanished wife.

Another ABC drama, The Rookie follows a 45-year old divorcée as he heads from Pennsylvania to Los Angeles to chase his dream of becoming an LAPD officer. He quickly learns that as the oldest rookie on the force, dealing with criminals might be the least of his challenges. Fast-paced and full of officers chasing clues (and love interests), the show has all the makings of a good network crime drama.

'Bones' (2005)

Centered around the FBI instead of the CIA, Bones might be one of the best TV crime dramas of all time. Each episode follows female forensic anthropologist  “Bones” Brennan who examines the bones of possible murder victims for clues regarding their deaths. In a tight alliance with special agent Seeley Booth, Bones’s insight is then used to help the FBI solve its most difficult cases. Whether you’re looking for another mystery thriller, or another strong woman lead, we highly recommend checking the series out.

'Money Heist'

Money Heist is a Spanish Netflix series that centers around a peculiar man known as the Professor who recruits eight thieves to help him pull off the biggest heist in history. In order for the team to be successful in its mission, however, the group must rely on the Professor’s mastermind ability to manipulate the police. If that premise doesn’t scream con-drama to you, we don’t know what will.

'Grey's Anatomy' (2005)

Grey’s Anatomy is know for two things: hot doctors and drama. With 19 seasons and counting, the show is one of ABC’s longest running series, and we absolutely love it. Similar to The Company You KeepGrey’s features aesthetically pleasing people working professional jobs, tense romantic scenes and plenty of glamorized academic jargon. Unlike the former, however, the series has been on since 2005, so there are plenty of episodes available for you to stream online right now.

'How To Get Away With Murder'

Our favorite thing about How To Get Away With Murder? Viola Davis. In the series, Davis plays Annalise Keating, a highly intelligent–and notably seductive–professor of defense law who teaches a class called “How to Get Away with Murder” at an esteemed university. Work gets complicated for Keating when she and five of her students become entangled in an actual murder plot. Packed full of action, passion and nail biting cliffhangers, this Emmy Award-winning series is sure to keep you busy for hours on end.
