Everyone’s favorite hitman will return in Barry Season 4, premiering soon.

Starring Bill Hader as the titular character, Barry follows a man from Ohio who envisions a new life for himself after joining a local acting group in Los Angeles… but his dark and violent past can’t seem to fade. The upcoming season of the HBO dark comedy will follow the explosive Season 3 finale, which hints at a pretty bleak future for our titular anti-hero.

A recent interview with Variety suggests that Barry will be following in the footsteps of Succession. Here’s everything we know about Barry season 4 so far.

IS THERE A BARRY SEASON 4 TRAILER?

Yes, we finally have a trailer for Barry Season 4! The show appears to be heading in an even darker direction this season.

“So help me God, if I get out of here, I’m coming for you,” a bruised and battered Barry is seen saying into a phone. Season 4 picks up soon after Barry’s arrest in season 3. The trailer shows him struggling in prison; we see him punching a wall and even imagining that his ex-girlfriend Sally is running lines in the prison yard.

WHEN DOES BARRY SEASON 4 PREMIERE?

Barry Season 4 premieres Sunday, April 16, on HBO and HBO Max. The eight-episode season, which is directed by Hader, will premiere at 10/9c. It will air right after Succession, which is filling the Sunday evening slot left open by The Last of Us. Tune in every Sunday for this dark comedy double-feature.

IS SEASON 4 THE FINAL SEASON OF BARRY?

Hader has officially confirmed that Season 4 will be the final season of Barry

Amy Gravitt, the executive vice president of HBO comedy programming who works closely with Hader on the show, told Variety the finale will provide a very “satisfying” end to the series.

Hader echoed a similar sentiment, saying that “a very clear ending presented itself” when they were working on Seasons 3 and 4. “Well, we could pad a lot of stuff, and just make story. But if we’re going forward, it ends in Season 4,” he said.

This news was just as surprising as learning Succession will also be ending with its fourth season this year.

It’s refreshing to see these shows end on their own terms with a straightforward storyline but that doesn’t make it any easier to say goodbye to these characters.

Knowing that this is the final season of Barry raises the stakes so much more. Will Barry ever be able to build a new life, especially now that he’s in prison? We’ll soon find out.
