Read on for everything we know Poker Face Season 2, including Rian Johnson and Poker Face showunners Nora and Lilla Zuckerman’s hopes for the the future of the series. Before you dive in, be mindful that Poker Face Season 1 finale spoilers lie ahead.

Will There Be A Poker Face Season 2 on Peacock? Everything We Know

Great news, Rian Johnson stans! Poker Face Season 2 is officially green-lit at Peacock. The series — which currently has a 99% Rotten Tomatoes rating — was renewed for a second season back in February, after just six of Season 1’s ten episodes aired.

Poker Face is one of those rare, undeniable shows that we all fell in love with from the start, but the critical acclaim and viewer response has been beyond our wildest dreams,” Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content at NBCUniversal TV and streaming, said in a statement. “Working alongside the creative genius of Rian Johnson, Natasha Lyonne and Ram Bergman, along with our partners at MRC and T-Street, has been a spectacular ride, and we can’t wait to hit the road for another season as we continue to build momentum across Peacock’s originals slate.”

At TCA’s January 2023 panel, Lyonne joked that she’s down to make 76 seasons of the series, and though Season 2 doesn’t have an official premiere date yet, we have some ideas for the future thanks to that finale, Rian Johnson, and showrunners Nora and Lilla Zuckerman.

What Does The Future of Poker Face Look Like? Rian Johnson and Showrunners Nora and Lilla Zuckerman Weigh In

Poker Face‘s Season 1 finale brought the show full circle in its final minutes. After Cliff was arrested for the murders of Jerry and Natalie Hill, he told the FBI that Beatrix Hasp — head of the Five Families — killed Sterling Frost Sr., meaning Charlie was innocent.

In the episode’s final scenes Charlie gets a call from Beatrix, vowing to track her down and kill her UNLESS she returns to work for the Five Families and use her “circus freak lie detector thing” to their benefit. Hasp asked how long Charlie thinks she can keep running, and Charlie replied, “I don’t know, B. Let’s all of us find out together.”

Like Season 1, Season 2 will see Charlie on the road and on the run from a powerful casino mogul yet again. Assuming Poker Face sticks with it’s beloved show structure, each episode will presumably introduce a new murder case in need of cracking, a new cast (ripe will A-List guest stars), and a new location. The running theme of Charlie evading capture will likely be woven throughout the season again, and maybe the Season 2 finale will even tie everything back to the premiere.

In an interview with Decider, Poker Face showrunners, EPs, and writers Nora and Lilla Zuckerman said they’d be on board for 76 seasons as well before sharing a hope for future seasons to come. “I certainly think I have 76 seasons worth of ideas,” L. Zuckerman said. “The wonderful thing about this show is that it is designed to just be an ongoing thing, because it is so episodic that you can set one of these murder mysteries anywhere. And I think what we wanted to do was really peel back and take a look at the heartland of America and the characters that are there, and really surprise people with where we could set these stories.”

“In terms of actors we’d love to see, I mean, we felt so lucky to get the people we got for this season. It was hard to talk people out of — at the end of their shoot they would ask, ‘Can I come back next season as a different character?’ You know, cause Columbo used to do that,” N. Zuckerman said. “So I actually think it would be really fun to find somebody from Season 1 and bring them back in a potential Season 2 as like a totally different character, totally against part or against type.”

“We were like, this could be a repertory. It could be like The Poker Face Players. We’ll just kind of bring people back but put them in completely different roles,” L. Zuckerman added.

The idea of returning Season 1 stars delights Rian Johnson, who already has someone in mind. Can you guess who? “I think that’d be awesome. I think Noah Segan could easily be the Patrick McGoohan. And I’ve already done that with him with Knives Out and Glass Onion, so the seal is broken on that,” he said.

Keep your eyes peeled for Season 2 updates in the coming months. And when Season 2 eventually drops, keep your eyes peeled for more Noah Segan.

Season 1 of Poker Face is currently streaming on Peacock.
