If you’re like us and can’t get enough of Netflix‘s new survival competition show, then the same question must be on all our minds: will there be an Outlast Season 2?

In the show, 16 people are released into the Alaskan wilderness (via parachute) and divided into four teams called Alpha, Beta, Charlie, and Delta. Instead of voting each other out, like in Survivor, here contestants simply win by outlasting the competition. The only rule is that you can’t survive individually, you have to be part of a team. The winning team gets a $1 million cash prize. Season 1 was eight episodes long and concluded with one of the four teams taking home the winnings (we won’t spoil it for you).

But will there be a second season? Here’s what we know:

WILL THERE BE AN OUTLAST SEASON 2?

The short answer is we’re not sure.

Netflix has neither canceled nor renewed the survival competition series Outlast yet.

Since it’s an unscripted original series, we’d hedge on it being renewed, since production seems generally low-budget considering the set is an open wilderness. The significant prize amount of $1 million could be a deterrent, however, so we can’t know for sure until we hear an announcement from the platform.

There’s always hope. But for now, it looks like we’re just going to have to enjoy our time with Outlast Season 1, which is currently streaming on Netflix.

If this is the end, we will at least have more unscripted original content to look forward to from Netflix. As was previously announced, the platform has filmed a real-life Squid Game reality show titled Squid Game: The Challenge, which was the center of some controversy but will eventually air on the platform.
