Wendell Pierce, James Gunn, More Pay Tribute to Lance Reddick After Sudden Death

Lance Reddick is being mourned by his co-stars and peers.

Reddick was found dead at his home earlier today. He was 60. Following the news of his sudden death, tributes began to pour in on social media.

The late actor was known for starring in The Wire and the John Wick franchise. He also held notable roles in the television shows Fringe and Bosch. Reddick has multiple projects planned for a posthumous release, including Percy Jackson and the Olympians, White Men Can’t Jump and Ballerina.

Wendell Pierce, who starred with Reddick in The Wire, posted a photo of the late actor on Twitter, where he wrote, “A man of great strength and grace.”

Pierce said Reddick’s death is “a sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family.” He continued, “Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here.”

Isiah Whitlock Jr., who also starred in The Wire, expressed his condolences. “Shocked and saddened  by the news that Lance Reddick has passed away. Truly heartbreaking,” he wrote. 

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn also mourned Reddick, writing, “Lance Reddick was an incredibly nice guy, and an incredibly talented actor. This is heartbreaking. My love goes out to all his family, friends, and collaborators.”

Actor Joe Manganiello shared a photo of himself with Reddick, writing, “Damn… he was such a great guy and a great actor.”

Kurtwood Smith, known for portraying Red Forman in That ‘70s Show, honored Reddick’s legacy, calling him “a wonderful actor” and a “decent man.” He added, “Way too young to go!” 

Ben Stiller recalled Reddick working with his mother Anne Meara on her play, Afterplay. “He was exquisite in that and all he did,” penned the Severance director.

At the time of Reddick’s death, he was on press for the latest John Wick film, in which he reprises his role Charon. The actor was slated to appear on The Kelly Clarkson Show next week.
