Ted Lasso Season 2 Episode 3 “(I Don’t Want to Go to) Chelsea” introduces Ted (Jason Sudeikis) (and the entire Ted Lasso audience) to a character we’ve never heard of before: Zava (Maximilian Osinski). Within the world of Ted Lasso, Zava is an uber-famous soccer superstar. Think Lionel Messi plus Cristiano Ronaldo plus he’s viral vigilante. (Yeah, apparently Ted knew him as a random guy who headbutted a thief!)
AFC Richmond starts buzzing when they learn that Zava is leaving his current team, Juventus, to join the Premiere League. Apparently his wife recently binged the original version of The Office and wants to live in the UK. What follows is a tense battle between Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), Rupert (Anthony Head) repping West Ham, and Chelsea to sign Zava next.

Who is Zava on Ted Lasso?
Zava is an internationally-acclaimed soccer superstar that everyone is obsessed with. He’s known for being a bit of a diva, which makes reformed narcissist Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster) nervous, but everyone else at Richmond seems thrilled at the idea of him joining the team.
Of course, Richmond isn’t the only Premiere League team interested in signing Zava. Rebecca uses a bit of reverse psychology in Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 2 to woo Zava to Richmond. The result? Zava dramatically indicates he’s joining Richmond at a press conference for a rival team.
So Zava is a bid deal in the Ted Lasso universe, but who’s the guy who plays him?
Who Plays Zava on Ted Lasso? Meet Maximilian Osinski!
Maximilian Osinski is an Austrian-born American actor who has appeared in shows such as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., MacGuyver, Shameless, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and in movies like Love & Other Drugs and In Time.
You can follow Osinski on Instagram @maxrosinski. Fun fact: he is married in real life to Severence and Altered Carbon star Dichen Lachman. No word on whether Osinksi booked Ted Lasso because Lachman binge-watched the original version of The Office and wanted to move to the UK.
