Yellowjackets

Powered by Reelgood

Two of cable’s biggest series, Yellowjackets and Succession, are back this weekend, and it’s about time, we really need some closure on the loose ends they left dangling the last time we saw them. On top of those prestige shows, there are also a couple other new series worth checking out too, including Apple TV+’s new country music competition series, and a new spy thriller on Netflix.

With so many great new shows and films to choose from, let us here at Decider help you figure out what to watch this weekend and where to stream it.

New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Yellowjackets (Season 2), Succession (Season 4), My Kind of Country, The Night Agent + More

Showtime’s Yellowjackets kicks the weekend off with it’s season two premiere – you can catch it on streaming Friday, or wait till Sunday to watch the cable premiere. Also airing Sunday night is the fourth and final season premiere of Succession, the saga of the wealthy Roy family, whose personal and professional lives are more messed up than just about anyone’s. If this season of The Voice isn’t cutting it for you, pop over to Apple TV+ for the new music competition series My Kind Of Country, in which some of country music’s biggest names scout the globe to find unconventional country acts to bring something unique and new to the genre. And for something you can binge in one weekend, check out the new spy series The Night Agent starring Gabriel Basso.

New on Showtime March 24: Yellowjackets (Season 2)

Everyone’s favorite show of 2021, Yellowjackets, is finally back for season 2, and maybe now we’ll get some answers about our favorite soccer team who probably eats each other! Season 2 brings back all of our favorites, Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, and Tawney Cypress, as the adult survivors of a plane crash that stranded a girls’ soccer team in the Canadian Rockies for 18 months, and it also marks the arrival of several new actors into the fold, including Lauren Ambrose, Elijah Wood, and Simone Kessell, who plays the adult version of Antler Queen/cult leader Lottie.

Episodes of Yellowjackets will air weekly on Showtime and Showtime On Demand.

New On HBO March 26: Succession

From where I sit, there are three pressing questions that the final season of Succession has to answer: What will become of Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) now that his siblings know he killed someone, what will become of Tom Wambsgans (Matthew MacFadyen) now that he’s deceived Shiv and her siblings, and will Kendall ever rap again? I’ll take those answers in any order. The new season premieres on HBO this Sunday night at 9 PM ET/PT, with new episodes airing weekly.

New on Netflix March 23: The Night Agent

Based on the thriller novel by Matthew Quirk, The Night Agent is a new series on Netflix with real Grisham/Le Carré/Clancy vibes. Gabriel Basso stars as Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent who becomes tangled in a conspiracy to find a traitor working at the highest level of the U.S. government. Academy Award-nominated actress Hong Chau co-stars, along with D.B. Woodside, Luciane Buchanan, and Eve Harlow.

New on Apple TV+: My Kind of Country

Co-produced by Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves, My Kind of Country is Apple TV+’s new competition series to search for the next big country music star. The twist is that most of the contestants hail from all over the world, rather than from America’s Heartland, and they bring fresh twists and hot takes on what country means to them. Along the way, the contestants are guided by musicians Jimmie Allen, Mickey Guyton, and Orville Peck who will offer guidance on their quest for a prize from Apple Music.
