New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Murder Mystery 2, Tetris, The Power + More

After putting out two well-received dramas, Uncut Gems and Hustle, Adam Sandler returns to his comedy roots this week with Murder Mystery 2 on Netflix, where he and Jennifer Aniston play a married couple who keep getting involved in international plots of murder and intrigue. Speaking of international intrigue, over on Apple TV+ you can catch the premiere of Tetris, the story of how the game of blocks that fit together became a source of Cold War tension in t he 1980s. And on Prime Video, Toni Collette leads the cast of The Power, a show about what happens to society when all of the world’s young women are suddenly given the power to electrocute people with their hands. It’s billed as dystopian but I mean, a world where young women are finally in control of the narrative sounds pretty ideal to me.

New on Netflix March 31: Murder Mystery 2

2019’s Murder Mystery, which starred Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston as a married couple who become unwittingly involved in a murder plot, was one of the streamer’s most successful comedies of that year. Now its sequel, Murder Mystery 2, takes characters Nick and Audrey Spitz to Paris for a new adventure. The new film also stars Jodie Turner-Smith, Mark Strong and Annie Mumolo and is filled with hijinks and silliness thanks to the world’s most inept investigators.

New On Apple TV+ March 31: Tetris

Based on a true story, Tetris stars Taron Egerton as Henk Rogers, a Dutch video game designer who saw the addictive properties of the titular video game and tried to bring it to the world in the late 1980s. The trouble with Henk’s plan though, was that Tetris was developed by Russian software engineer Alexy Pajitnov (Nikita Yefremov) and the legal battle that ensued in the quest to secure the rights to the game only added to the simmering Cold War tension between Russia and the West at the time.

New on Prime Video March 31: The Power

On Amazon Prime Video’s new series The Power, teenage girls all over the world are suddenly gifted a special power: electricity flows from their fingertips, and how the girls use this new power, whether for good or bad, is up to them, but the fact is they have the power to hurt others at will whenever they want. Based on the best-selling novel by Naomi Alderman, The Power is chock full of big names, like Toni Collette, John Leguizamo, and Josh Charles, who all play adults grappling to understand what it means now that these young women have the upper hand in society and can weaponize their bodies in ways that no one else can control.
