Drew Barrymore and Cedric the Entertainer might need to take a crash course in matchmaking after the two tried (and failed) to set up comedian Sheryl Underwood with an audience member on today’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.
Drew brought up the conversation to Cedric, who previously toured with Sheryl, when she revealed that their friend is “single and ready to mingle.” When she asked if the duo ever talked about dating while they were working together, he replied, “We didn’t really talk about it. I mean, she was kind of scouting out the whole crew over there.”
After Cedric praised Underwood — who is a co-host on The Talk — as a “great” comedian who can “very much hold her own,” Barrymore asked him who they can set her up with.
“That’s interesting. That’s good. I mean that guy up there looks pretty cool,” he said, pointing to a leather-clad audience member. “He’s like, ‘No! What did I do, bro?’”
Cedric joked, “Well, you got the black leather pants on, too. It might be a whole other situation with this dude, too. He’s gonna jump on his motorcycle. That’s Fonzie.”
The man in the audience revealed to the host and her guest that he is, in fact, single. However, when Barrymore told him that she’s “looking to set Sheryl up with someone,” he said, “I hate to break it to you, but I’m on the wrong team.”
But before the Drew fan could even finish his sentence, Barrymore — who had a defeated expression painted across her face — said, “I have a feeling. Yeah.” Meanwhile, Cedric threw his head back laughing as he exclaimed, “Let’s gooo!”
While matchmaking may not be in Drew Barrymore and Cedric the Entertainer’s future, they most definitely deserve an A for effort!
