Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 5 “Signs” revealed that Keeley Jones (Juno Temple), “Independent Woman,” is finally moving on from one Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein). Sure, Keeley drunkenly admitted to Jack (Jodi Balfour) that she is still hurting from the breakup, but Ms. Jones also took it upon herself to kiss Jack. Keeley swiftly apologized for the kiss — Jack is, after all, the prime investor in KJPR — but then Jack reciprocated the kiss. The last we see of Keeley in the episode is her silhouette being undressed and loved on behind her office’s frosted privacy glass.

Keeley’s lesbian hookup with Jack might cause shockwaves throughout the world of Apple TV+‘s Ted Lasso this season. First, it further complicates the already tense on-and-off love Roy/Keeley/Jamie (Phil Dunster) triangle. Second, Jack is technically Keeley’s boss!!! If folks winced to see Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) romance Sam (Toheeb Jimoh) because of workplace ethics, what are they going to think of Keeley dallying with her firm’s primary investor?

So how did Keeley’s sapphic encounter come about and what might it mean for Ted Lasso Season 3 on Apple TV+? Here’s what you need to know…

How did Keeley’s Lesbian Hook Up Come About on Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 5 “Signs”?

Eagle-eyed fans should have noticed that Keeley was sending out flirtier signals than usual early on in Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 5. Instead of wearing a demure, but girly take on business attire, Keeley was wearing an extremely low-cut dress complete with “nipple ring” flair sewn on the bust. She wore this in a one-on-one conversation with Jack, lending the conversation an undercurrent of horniness.

Jack repeatedly comes to Keeley’s aid before they kiss. First, she gives Keeley advice on how to fire Shandy (Amreen Razia) and then they go to lunch together. After Shandy takes revenge on Keeley by leaving a baby goat in the conference room to poop its smelly poops all over the table, it is Jack who sticks around until the problem is solved.

After they’ve gotten rid of the cute, smelly little goat, the two women share Shandy’s desk vodka and start chatting. Keeley admits she’s still upset over her breakup with Roy, but winds up kissing Jack. As we said, Jack kisses her back. The shot of the two women canoodling behind the privacy screen suggests they might have done more than just kiss…

But who is Jack again? And why does the actress playing her look so familiar?

Who is Jack on Ted Lasso? Meet Jodi Balfour

We first met Jack in Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 4 “Big Week.” When Keeley gets her period early, Jack is the woman in the next stall who offers up a tampon. This means that Keeley is bit embarrassed when she realizes that she was saved by Jack, the mysterious venture capitalist who is investing in KJPR. (The show leads Keeley and the audience to believe Jack is male.)

Jack is played by Australian actress Jodi Balfour. Balfour stars in another Apple TV+ hit, For All Mankind. She plays an heiress-turned-astronaut who becomes the first female president in the show’s alternate timeline. Her character is also secretly a lesbian.

That said, you might best know Balfour for her turn as Jackie Kennedy in a Season 2 episode of Netflix’s The Crown. Balfour’s Jackie played with the queen’s corgis. It was sad and cute.

You can follow Jodi Balfour on Instagram @jodiannebalfour. She often posts very adorable photos of herself and fiancée Abbi Jacobson. (I mean I think they’re adorable together.)

What Does Keeley’s New Romance With Jack Mean for Roy? And Jamie?

Ted Lasso fans might be less enchanted with this latest romantic development because what it might mean for a potential Roy and Keeley reunion. Just as Keeley is drunkenly making out with Jack, Roy seems to reflect on Ted’s (Jason Sudeikis) impassioned speech about self-belief and forgiveness. Roy seems regretful. Could he try to rekindle things with Keeley only to be rebuffed? Or jealous that she kissed Jack?

As for Roy and Jamie, the two are still workout buddies. Jamie confirmed that they would be running together at 4 AM after the Man City loss.

Could Jamie and Keeley get back together? Keeley does joke that she has no hard feelings over Jamie and jests she would do it again…

Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 6 will premiere next Wednesday, April 19 on Apple TV+.
