Tom Sandoval put on quite the show while giving his first major interview since the fallout of Scandoval. But it looks like he could find himself in an even deeper hole after his surprising appearance was reportedly not green-lit by Bravo.

On Tuesday (April 11) afternoon, the Vanderpump Rules star spoke on Howie Mandel‘s Howie Does Stuff podcast, where he gave “his side of the story” after it was revealed last month that he had a months-long affair with Raquel Leviss — the close friend of his (now former) girlfriend of nine years, Ariana Madix.

According to Page Six, a Bravo rep said, “Sandoval did give the network a heads up that he was going on Howie’s podcast,” while a rep for the disgraced reality star added, “The network and the production company were fully aware of Tom doing the podcast prior, and there was a PR rep for Vanderpump Rules present for the podcast.”

While Sandoval let the network know, the outlet further reports that he was allegedly not given official approval. Despite moving forward with the interview, a source close to the network told Page Six that his job on the hit reality series is not on the line.

“There has been no conversation of him being fired for doing an unauthorized interview,” the insider said. “The rest of the [Vanderpump Rules] cast has been doing plenty of non-approved interviews — so that would mean the whole cast would be fired.”

Following the bizarre podcast episode — where Mandel, who blatantly admitted he knows nothing about Vanderpump Rules, seemingly attempted to justify Sandoval’s affair at any chance he could — Bravo boss Andy Cohen called the Deal or No Deal alum a “jackhole” and presumed that he “didn’t do his homework.”

Meanwhile, Sandoval’s VPR costar Lala Kent took to her Instagram Story to slam it as a “weird fucking first interview.”

“That is so fucking random,” Kent said. “Like, the game show host? The one who fist-bumps you because he’s scared of germs?”

Vanderpump Rules airs on Wednesday nights at 9/8c on Bravo. You can stream new episodes the next day on Peacock.
