Reese Witherspoon‘s Hello Sunshine production company is on a roll in 2023. Its third series, The Last Thing He Told Me, starts streaming on Apple TV+ today, and like the two shows to come before it (Daisy Jones and the Six and Tiny Beautiful Things), it’s also adapted from a Reese’s Book Club pick.

The Last Thing He Told Me stars Jennifer Garner as Hannah, a woman who forms an unexpected bond with her stepdaughter (Angourie Rice) while searching for her missing husband (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). The cast of the thriller also includes Aisha Tyler, Geoff Stults, John Harlan Kim, and Augusto Aguilera.

New episodes of The Last Thing He Told Me will stream on Apple TV+ ($6.99/month) every Friday through May 19. While you wait for new episodes, here’s everything you need to know about the book it’s based on and where you can get it for yourself.

IS THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME BASED ON A BOOK?

Yes! The Last Thing He Told Me is an adaptation of Laura Dave’s 2021 mystery-thriller novel. Witherspoon chose it as one of her book club’s picks in May 2021, the month it was released. It became an instant New York Times bestseller and has spent over 48 weeks on the list since.

The miniseries was created by Dave and her husband, screenwriter Josh Singer, who won an Academy Award for writing the screenplay of the 2013 film Spotlight. Dave and Singer are also credited as co-writers of three out of the show’s seven episodes.
