F. Murray Abraham was abruptly written off of Mythic Quest Season 3 with little notice to fans, but a new report alleges that the actor was fired following multiple complaints of sexual misconduct.

According to Rolling Stone, at least two complaints were made about Abraham’s behavior on set. A production source claimed that Abraham was initially warned to stay away from some of the actresses on the show. But, after the series creator and star Rob McElhenney was told of a second incident involving the actor, Abraham was fired from the show.

Abraham’s departure was announced in April 2022 via a statement from Lionsgate.

“F. Murray Abraham will not be returning to season three of Mythic Quest. Beyond that, we do not comment on matters concerning personnel,” the production studio wrote at the time.

Lionsgate maintained a similar sentiment when commenting on Rolling Stone‘s recent report.

“We take allegations of misconduct seriously and investigate them thoroughly,” Lionsgate said, per Rolling Stone. “As a matter of corporate policy, we do not discuss our personnel actions.”

Abraham played C.W. Longbottom, the video game studio’s head writer who has a reputation for being pretentious and inappropriate. The actor’s absence was explained away in Mythic Quest Season 3, when the characters return to a letter from Longbottom explaining that he had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and decided to “script” his own death.

McElhenney addressed his unexplained absence during a set visit in May 2022. “It’s a bummer to not have Murray in this season,” he said, according to Variety. “But we recognize that C.W. is a beloved character and obviously a huge part of the show. So, we made sure that we have a really fitting tribute to him. We definitely address it in a big way.”

Some assumed that Abraham’s abrupt exit from the show was because he was cast in The White Lotus Season 2.

On the hit HBO show, Abraham plays Bert Di Grasso, a patriarch who embarrasses his son and grandson with his inappropriate treatment of women during their family trip to Sicily.

Abraham and McElhenney have not commented on the report.
