Will There Be An ‘A Million Little Things’ Season 6?

If you sobbed your way through A Million Little Things Season 5, Episode 13 and found yourself wondering if you really have to part with your best fictional friend group, you’re not alone.

Since the long-running ABC drama premiered in 2018 it’s been a wonderful source of cathartic cries, heartwarming moments, and relatable storylines. Viewers have grown so fond of Rome, Regina, Eddie, Delilah, and the rest of their found fam that they’re understandably hoping for more new episodes down the line. But was the Season 5 finale truly the end of the road for A Million Little Things or are more stories still to come?

Will There Be An A Million Little Things Season 6?

A Million Little Things debuted as part of ABC’s fall lineup in September 2018, and five seasons and nearly 90 episodes later it’s time to bid the drama farewell. Back in November 2022 D.J. Nash confirmed that A Million Little Things would end with Season 5, which means Season 5, Episode 13 is the series finale.

Was A Million Little Things Canceled?

For those wondering, A Million Little Things wasn’t canceled. Nash simply set out to tell a specific story and wanted to wrap after it was told.

“I know seeing this show end may be sad for many people (especially my mom who watches live every week), but I always knew I wanted to follow these friends for 5 seasons and leave them when the time was right,” Nash said in a statement last year. “When we started making our show, I never could have imagined this incredible community of ‘Millionaires’ who would come together and not only watch, but also share with each other their personal struggles, their pain and ultimately their true grit. I am both honored and humbled by all of it and am so in awe of the incredible actors, writers, directors and crew who lend their talent to make our show.”

In January 2023, Nash shared additional thoughts on the series ending in a Season 5 interview with Variety, saying, “We’re not a hospital show where new interns can come in. We’re about a group of friends that are real and a lot of things have happened to this group of friends. I didn’t want us to become the issue-of-the-week show… I knew from the beginning it was five years. I wasn’t as public about it because people want it to go longer, but this is the right time.”

Will There Be An A Million Little Things Spin-off or Sequel Series?

Though fans will undoubtedly wish they could hang with this fictional friend group they’ve come to grow and love for longer, there could be hope more A Million Little Things-related TV in the future.

For starters, Nash tweeted the following ahead of the finale:

And when asked about a potential continuation of the series, Nash told TV Insider, “You never know. I definitely leave the door open to something. The way we leave the series would certainly allow for an opportunity to revisit, should we all find ourselves available.”

If you watched the series finale, you know the ending of A Million Little Things perfectly sets up a continuation of the series. But is Nash serious about a series that focuses on a new generation of characters? Only time will tell.
